Removing interior paint?

So I think I may have found an awesome P5 to buy, been looking for a while. It's dark blue, but some of the interior has been painted (middle center console around CD player, and the area around the shifter). From the pictures it looks so-so, not sure if I like it yet. I'm sure when I see it in person I'll know, but otherwise this car is exactly what I'm looking for.

In the case I want to remove the paint, what's the best way to go about doing it? Just sand it off? Plus, it looks like the leather (or whatever material it is) around the shifter (5speed) has been painted also. Any tips for getting this back to solid black?

Thanks!

For the shift boot just order one from redline goods. They are in the for sale sections on this board. They make some really high quality leather boots, and you can choose you leather style, leather colour, and tread colour if you so desire. The part around the radio and cupholders are originally a grey colour. i highly doubt that you will be able to sand through their paint to the original colour and have it look anything approaching decent. Your best bet will be to look for ones for sale here on a part out, or just repaint them to a colour of your choosing.

if those pieces look silvery, its a stock paint. any other color, and they have been painted. if you want a black look, get the pieces from an 01 ES model.

or if you dont like the look just buy some paint and respray it the color of your choice.

Tell the dealership what you're willing to pay on the condition that they get the paint off, or replace those parts with stock. Usually they're willing to work with you to get a sale if they know you'll buy it. Eg, I got a full brake job with mine because the pedal was pulsing a little under braking (no ABS car LOL). That stuff is usually covered under their mark up anyway.
