I've done some searching and can't find an answer for this.
I need to change my battery. I've taken off the bracket, but can't get it past the Strut Tower Brace. Do I need to remove that to get the battery out, or is there another way?

If it does need to be removed, do I torque it to about 40 pounds when I reinstall it?

you have to remove the bar....no way around it....it's just 4 nuts to remove

edit: 40lbs sounds about right...i just tighten mine down

Thanks.
I knew it would be real tight and sure enough it took some serious effort to loosen those bolts.
I'm all set with a new battery now. The car didn't want to start at first. Then I figured out that I had to arm and then disarm the alarm (lock then unlock using the remote).

yeah....our alarms our a pita after a new bat or just unplugin.....but once it starts the first time....all is well

Hey all you have to do is remove the air box. Loosen the hose clamp on the air box cover, remove the 2 harnesses from the MAF and IAT, remove the 1 10mm nut and 10mm bolt and take out the bottom of the air box. Remove the battery tie down and slide the battery forward of the strut tower bar. Its alot easier taking the whole bar assembly out.

much much easier to pull the strut bar man.....much

edit: i've done both lots....and finally got rid of the airbox with a cai.....still gotta pull the strut bar

Me personally, I would rather mess with a couple of 10mm bolts and a screw driver than torque'n the strut tower bar on and off. But to each their own :)

strut bar is a joke really, 4 19mm bolts and you just make them tight, theres no torque spec just make sure it won't come off lol. My arm is a torque wrench!

and that from a canadian....TRUTH SPEAKS(2thumbs)(rlaugh)(cheers)

****** right, get me a case of beer and I'll torque everything up right good!

It was funny the other day we were doing an engine swap in my buddys driveway and we realized how god damn canadian we are. It's -25, snowing and it took 4 beer and 10 smokes just to pop the hood LOL.
