Remove Factory Racks in the Summer?

I have a factory rack with a Thule box that I use in the winter for skiing. I don't use the rack or the box in the summer.

Anyone remove their racks in the summer?

Is it easy to remove? Are there holes left when you remove the rack? My car came with the rack, so I don't know if there is some type of cover or something that I would need to cover where the racks are.

Pop the outside covers off of the crossbars. You'll see a single screw holding each bar end down. Shouldn't even have to remove the Thule box if you've got an extra hand with it. 5 minute job.

Does it leave a whole in the roof or something?

There are 4 small (1/2 by 1 inch or so) plastic covers that go into the holes in the drip rail mouldings when the rack is not in place.
