This morning i locked my car and noticed that i didnt get a beep when i pressed the lock twice like i used to do. Now i usually dont do this because its kinda annoying but when im far and i want to make sure that i did lock the car i press it twice, this time i had to walk all the way back to my car to make sure it was locking and it was but i wasnt hearing the beep.
Now i installed my sub last weekend and everything went very smooth and now im wondering if it could have anythign to do with this. what do you guys think? im not really concerned about the beep itself but about the unknown results of puting the sub in place.
Any ideas? thanks!

well you only get the honking if all your doors and trunk are closed COMPLETELY. did you check that?

i didnt know that but i checked my doors and they were all closed. I dont see how it could be affected by installing the sub but that is the only change i made to it.

Does your horn work when you hit the steering wheel?

I doubt it has anything to do with the sub install, but it could be co-incidentally that your horn no longer works.

hmmm i havent checked the horn but i will later on. it would be really strange to lose the horn out of the blue though.

you could have pulled a wire... when i did my install i had to take out the door wires and it wouldn't beep then b/c it couldn't lock/detect the lock.... if you just did a sub, i would be sure to check your trunk and make sure it is closed and the car realizes it..(no idiot lights) also as toronto said check your horn. and if still having issues... unlock all doors manually...(don't use the auto option, push in each lock) then use the auto lock option on your keys and see if every door locked visually... if you don't know after that... ummm... i dunno... but let me know... will think some more on it...

thanks guys!
So when i left work last night i checked again and noticed that there was no beep and there was no light blinking either. So i checked mu trunk lid and it was not closed but it sits so flush when open that i t appears to be closed, is that in al 3s? how bout hatchs?
Anyways, i guess this was a false alarm, i just get paranoid whenever i make changes to the car.
thanks guys!

AFAIK we have 3 'horns'. There's a low tone one and a high tone one (this could be a 2 in one setup but the workshop manual shows them on both sides of the car, in the bumper-ish area) - activated when your press the horn and there's a separate alarm horn. I know that b/c i have my hella supertone horns hooked up instead of the stock horns and when i lock my car with the fob i get a differend sounding "beep" than the "MMMEEEEEEEP" from the hellas (glare)

ya, the sedan only shows the door ajar icon light for the doors, not the trunk. I'm sure there's a way to tie it into the door circuit or could just use an LED mounted someplace nice.

If the sedan is anything like the hatchback, the door triggers are positive trigger and the trunk is negative trigger. You can use a relay to change the polarity of the trunk wire and then combine it with an existing door switch. Using a normal automotive relay, connect fused 12v to pin 30 and pin 86, connect trunk trigger wire to pin 85, and connect a door trigger to pin 87. The wires for the door and trunk trigger wires are found in the passenger kick panel. When the trunk is open, it will ground pin 85, which will activate the coil (pins 85 and 86) to send 12v (pins 30 and 87) to the door trigger.

However, if the trunk is left open for any reason (transporting large object, etc), the door ajar indicator light will remain on. The dome light has an auto shutoff, so you should be ok there.
