Remote Engine Start - Same Key Fob?

No, its another fob all together.

I just went to dealer and they said it is a separate "small square" with a button on it, kinda like a small key chain and I get the same "switch blade" type key fob. They are doing a dealer locate and did not have any there to see.

I am in the US if it matters.

Can someone please confirm this?

Don't take this the wrong way, but seeing how the dealer told you it's a small square keychain, and then I post a picture off the Mazda WEBSITE of a hand holding a small keychain remote, it's a safe bet thats what it looks like.

I just realized I said no in my first post, when I meant yes. If you get remote start you get the little keychain the hand is holding, and the switchblade key (unless you get the Tech package, then you get the smart key instead of the switch blade)

This is a picture I took of MY remote start to share here a while back. I have the smart key (obviously) and the remote start fob is the smaller one.

Ok. I have found a few posts here in the Main Mazda Forums that have confirmed this.

Thanks!!!

I should be picking up my CX-7 on Saturday.

Wow... this guy has some major trust issues.

If you re-read his post (and my original ?) it sounds like he is saying you do not get the switch blade type key fob.

Trust issues? I wanted confirmation from someone who HAD IT, not just off a picture, in which case the dealer was correct.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Ok I apologize. I see what you are saying and my statement was out of line.

(It was a bad day for me and I should have recognized that before I posted.)

Normally my posts are on topic and informational.

No problem. It was not worded properly with tone of voice....kinda like IM/TXTing wife/GF and she thinks you being cocky cause she is reading it with a different tone....LOL

It's all good.

You can actually get an aftermarket remote start system integrated into the flip key. I had that same setup on my cx-7 with an avital remote start system. I use to press the lock key 3 times and then my truck would start. You don't get great range with that system because it's based upon your remote locking the car and then the locking pulse being sent to the alarms brain, and then starting the car. I switched to the Viper 5900 with the 1 mile range for my truck because I wanted an alarm system, and you can't integrate that into the flip key.
