Anyone have a clue how to reload XP ME after a hard drive crash?
I never made a recovery disc and HP doesn't even sell the discs any more.
My old PC smoked a hard drive a few months back but I got a new drive and am trying to get it running again.

Thoughts or suggestions welcome.

did you register with MS? if so they may be able to provide you with your CD Key. you could then download or borrow a copy for the install and just enter your key when prompted

Your product key should be on a sticker somewhere on the computer. Usually on the side or back for desktops, on the bottom for laptops.

Borrow or download an XP install disc, and enter in your product key when installing. You may need to download drivers for some of your hardware from HP's web site.

You won't have any of the software that came pre-installed on your computer, but you'll have a fully functional operating system.

A buddy gave me an Media center copy he grab from torrents but it wouldn't recognize my key code.
