Reducing sqeaking between plastic parts...

I experience squeaking noise from the plastic parts area around the shifter. I've checked all panels and all seem to be tighten down fine.

This gets even worse during cold winter months. I'd like to isolate the areas where plastic panels join together.

I also have Honda Odyssey. I've noticed when removing its plastic panels (radio install) that all edges of every panel have very nice tape that insulates the joining surfaces. It feels like thin soft cloth simply attached to edges of every plastic panel. This makes it really squeak free in any temperatures.

Does anyone know where to purchase such tape? I'd simply apply it to edges of panels in my CX-5.

Thanks.

And if you entrust the dealer with finding/fixing every little squeek and rattle you'll spend the rest of your natural life there. Learn to address these issues yourself. (PS: Can you say "Unable to replicate"?)

My dealer's motto is "unable to replicate", and yes my driver side mirror is still shaking "mazda designed it that way" dealer said. What a POS.

I'd rather do it myself. Just ordered some tape and will do it over the weekend. It looks like I will have to deal with 3-4 pieces of paneling.

My Dealer has had 2 goes to fix a buzz by the sunglasses holder. thanks to the forum, there is a fix for this so the dealer gets one last chance to sort or I spill the beans!

The first thing to try is to remove any sunglasses that may be in there.

That worked for me, lol!

If your sunglasses are the problem you could use some small pieces of self adhesive foam inside the holder in strategic spots to eliminate the buzz.
