Hello All,
I received the RedTiger ViewClear 70 a few weeks ago (without purchase) and below is my honest review of the of the dashcam.
I will get straight into it without the additional frills.
Firstly, I have extensive use with various Dashcams--I have used $500 cams (DOD LS470W) to the very cheap eBay cams. For comparison, I will compare the VC70 to the LS470W.
I have used the latter for almost 7 years that is hard wired into one of my vehicles. The video is excellent in night and day, thanks to the Sony sensor. Having used the LS470W for a number of years, it's a tough camera to beat, though the price was somewhat 'premium'.
The VC70 came with a complete guide that was easy to follow. I did receive the hardwire kit that allows you to connect the camera from an alternate power source, or directly to the battery. This allows for a much cleaner install without utilizing one of your USB plugs. I previously connected my LS470W from the power source of the rearview mirror.
It's a nice touch that RedTiger includes this additional kit for those interested in a cleaner installation.
It should be noted though, should you use the regular cigarette outlet to power the VC70, there is a USB-A available for other devices--which is a nice touch!
The VC70 came nicely packaged in box. No chance of this thing getting knocked around inside. You can see in this picture the dashcam itself and the rear dashcam.
Note, the front dashcam is equipped with a max resolution of 4K, while the rear is equipped with 2K MAX resolution. (I will add a secondary video of the rear footage, as I had mixed up the SD cards)
On the topic of SD cards, the VC70 came with a 128GB SD card!
The front of the camera is equipped with a lens that has the ability to move independent from the main camera body. It can move in all directions and offers a slight change in angle, should you need it. If you happen to drive a vehicle with a near perpendicular (to the road) front windshield, it's possible to adjust the lens rather than fight with the camera that is likely already affixed to the glass. The same goes with other aero themed front windshields, such as the Prius, Civic, NSX etc--you can angle the lens up, down, left or right to accommodate your preferred shot.
You can see from the below pictures the angle of the lens on the extreme down and then up. It doesn't look like much, but considering the distance from the camera to the front of the vehicle, it's plenty. That additional touch is exactly one of the many things I have wanted to see in a good quality camera and I am glad to have found it here. The LS470W cannot match the adjustability of the VC70 as that camera is fixed to the glass with no independent movement.
The camera itself is slightly bigger than the LS470W in all forms. I did not find this an issue though as the camera itself FEELS quality and built SOLID. No, you won't use this as a football, but should you choose to do so, it feels rigid and very well made. The buttons offers good feedback.
The power connection goes to the front camera and another cable is supplied from the front camera to the rear camera. All connections on or to the camera is USB-C, which is a very nice touch!
A few additional details to add:
- All the supplied cable lengths (cigarette lighter, rear cam, hardware power kit), are plenty and is enough to hide with ease on my CX9.
- The camera itself comes with a clear film that sits in-between the camera and the front windshield.
- Both the camera and the additional hardware kit comes with a plastic trim tool that is very helpful to push the cabling behind.
- The software on the VC70 device itself is very easy to set up and use. It's very intuitive and clean.
- The touchscreen on the VC70 is EXCELLENT. The touchscreen selection and feedback is closer to using the latest smartphone rather than the touchscreens of other dashcams I have used previously. It's direct, instantaneous and very, very accurate.
- I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the build, the quality of day time and night time video.
- The rear video quality is very good and the camera itself was easy to install. The rear camera offers a tilt function for a desirable placement.
- The camera came with multiple clips for additional support. I didn't need it, but it's nice to have it in case, depending on individual application.
To the actual video.
Compared to the LS470W, the VC70 video quality is exceptional during the day. The resolution certainly helps that the MAX resolution of the former is 1080FHD whereas the VC70 can record at 4K (front camera) and 2K (rear camera).
I found the APP useful as it was easy to navigate. The APP on the phone and on Windows 11 (WolfBoxPlayer) had the GPS points and the video loaded without issue. The VC70 also supports WIFI 6 for FAST transfer of files to your phone (if supported).
The day time resolution is crisp and I noticed some video stabilization used when the vehicle goes over rough bumps on the road.
The plates on vehicles are crystal clear with no issues identifying numbers or letters from 150FT away (during the day). The lens gives a very wide angle video without major distortion. It captures vehicles creeping up quickly from either side before you think it should be in view.
The night time video quality is also very good. It should also be noted the VC70 also uses a Sony sensor which allows maximum light. I noticed some glaring light during night driving from oncoming vehicles (using low beams) that made reading their plates somewhat difficult. The quality of the LS470W at night seems to be comparable to the VC70, despite the vast resolution difference. I will dive deeper into the light input settings for night driving and I will report my findings back here to see if that helps with the glare.
See the day time video and night time video sample from the front facing camera at full 4K resolution.

Overall, the camera is excellent. The build quality coupled with the video quality is surprising! RedTiger made a very good all around product and should I need another camera, I will not hesitate to purchase one in future.
I will periodically add video footage samples of the front and rear under different driving conditions ie snow, rain and of the rear camera.
