ok... I know you guys have gone over this one a zillion times lol
I switched to synthetic mobile one after my first oil change.
Many oil changes later -I'm at about 16k now & im thinking of changing to Red line or Royal Purple.
What'll you guys think is best!

How come? If you been using it for 16K, no need to change. There is only a slight difference between them all. Mobil 1 is easier to find the RP or RL.

I couldn't tell a difference between Royal Purple and Mobil 1. I had Royal Purple put in for my first oil change and then I put in Mobil 1 for my second. RP is a PITA to find sometimes.

it's a matter of preference

My favorite color is blue so I settle for RP because it's close in the color spectrum

all jokes aside, you wouldn't be able to tell if you throw dino oil in there
the long term wear and tear difference on your engine may be detectable but most of us will either have other cars by then or have rebuilt the engine due to it goin' boom

honestly, the chances you'll see a difference between any of the synthetics is REALLY low, so i'd say go with whatever is cheapest and easiest to get...:D

i agree go with what is easier to obtain near you i have to order the redline from a vendor and wait for it everytime i want to change my oil... also its $$ but i am stubborn and give my baby the best i can cause i beat the piss outa her:)

ya, i was going to get all crazy and order my oil online and whatnot until it actually came time to get an oil change and there was a sale on mobil 1 at pepboys down the street from me...(eekdance)

If you insist on one or the other, I recommend Redline. A guy on a Mazda 3 forum posted results of several UOAs and one for Royal Purple was not favorable for wear.

LOL cools & thanx everybody for your help. I'll just stick to the same old good stuff! -mobil1

funny... I just got back from my dealer. I had a check engine lite turn on this morning & I stalled-out a couple times in traffic. Took it in & they said they'll call me 2mrw with the problem. Got a vw rabbit to rag-out on lol

Got a link to that you could pm me? Ive been using this stuff for many years and taken motors apart after 60K+ miles heavily boosted and saw no wear on the bottom end of upper roller assembly ( cams, valves, etc. )

based on bobtheoil guy forums oil tests that came from RP motor oil, if their other lubricants are just as bad then it's safe to say it should be your last choice in all situations. I haven't seen any oil analysis testing on Redline, but as far as I know it's more known in the muscle car scene than anything so mabye that means something.
