Recommendation for car stereo dealer in Bay Area

I live in San Francisco and I'm shopping for some nice 5 1/4" components to upgrade the front speakers in my 3. There seem to be a lot of choices out there by Infinity, Boston Acoustics, etc. but I need to hear what they sound like, and the dealers I've been to so far are holes in the wall with few choices. Out of the big electronics stores (Circuit City, Best Buy, and good guys), only good guys has more than one or two components, and they don't have that much more.

Does anyone know of a place that has good selection out here?

there's a shitload of really good local shops- like too many to list. i'd suggest you check those out. where exactly are you? there's a ton down here in sunnyvale/santa clara.

One of the best shops in the SF area is Motor Music.. its in Daly City on mission st. I never bought anything from there, since its pretty pricey. They've got serious top of the line stuff, and they mainly do fabrication. They've got a lot of great speakers set up for you to hear.. so its definately worth dropping by. I went there a couple times in December, and I taked to a guy named Ken. Hes cool, really knows his stuff.

Motor Music is probably close to the best you'll find in the city / daly city area. You'd probably find some good places a little bit farther out like yourfather_luke said. If you actually do buy speakers, I know a lot of other places that would be cheaper as far as simple speaker installation goes.
