Recirculating the greddy?

Alright i know this discussion has taken place about the greddy TypeS bov, and how to not get it to stall. Well i've given up on getting mine to stop stalling while venting to the atmosphere. I'm trying to get it to recirculate, does anyone know where i can get some sort of piping or tubing that connects to the type S, and i can reconnect into my AEM CAI. I've been searching desperatly, but i can't seem to find any.

I can't seem to eliminate all the compressor surege, by loosening to greddy, because if i loosen it too much, i stall. If i have it too tight it has surge. That happy medium doesn't exist for me. So i'm going to just go to recirculate, and loosen it a lot so i don't have to worry about stalling issues. I care more about my turbo's life then the cool sound.

all you need is a pipe with the 1 inch nipple and some 1inch thick vacuum line or whatever.

if im not mistaken it is also a 1 inch...if you find out what piping you need, i will have an extrap iece of pipe (powdercoated) off my MAM kit that is right off the turbo with a nipple as soon as i get my HKS SSQ

here is what is have done before

i think the AEM's nipple is a little smaller than 1". Do they make vacuum hose that is 1" on one end and 5/8ths on the other, i think that's what size the intake nipple is. However i'm not positive so feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

alright i got the hose's all hooked up and i have my greddy recirculating. All of my compressor surge is gone, and all i get is a nice crisp sound of my turbo slowing down. It's hard to describe the sound...other than nice. I'm happy!

damn you have no turkey.....can you get a picture of your setup, i want to see how long your hose is and how its routed

thanks

yea i'll get some pictures up for ya. Its actually kinda getto the way it's routed, but you'll understand what i did when i get the pictures up. It'll be a few days, but i'll get em for ya.

Stupid question maybe, but did you use the recirc fitting? I am not in the best situation right now, and if it is possible to do it without using the recirculating fitting (which im sure it is) I would like to do that.

negative, i didn't even know there was a fitting... i just have a 1 1/4" piece of vinyle hose, with a hose clamp on too a 1" piece of hose, and winding it around too the nipple on the intake.

Very good to hear :) I was actually at Advance Auto parts yesterday and was going to be picking up some fittings and hose, but there was one guy there and he was on the phone forever...(blah)

Also, GReddy makes an adaptor that screws into the Type-S, then has different size hose fittings. Sorry for the blurry pic...

where would you go about getting one of them?

I got mine at a local shop. Go to http://www.GReddy.com Go to Turbo, then Accessories, and Blow Off valves. Scroll down to the outlet Adapters and get a part number. Any place that sells GReddy should be able to get one. :)

The correct size outlet adapter for the greddy type s is 19mm. The closest equivalent is 3/4".

Sorry I didn't respond to your posts earlier MSP2NV, I don't check these sections of the board often enough.

I too am now recirculating. I really think the BOV location has a lot to do with it. When on the Turbo>intercooler pipe I had no problems. Once it moved to he intercooler>throttle body pipe the stalling started again. Plus with my PERRIN SRI the maf is too close and gets blowback casuing stalling if you don't recirculate.

Bringing this thread back. I have the same setup....but with the Greddy 19mm adapter. I am recircing the Type-S to the Injen. No matter what setting on the Greddy, I get major turkey. It will even flutter while letting off the gas at 30 Mph, no boost needed. Pics of your setup? Anyone help? This is such an annoying sound when it occurs this often!

I think there's a duplicate of this thread...anyways...here's what i said in the other...

Alright guys...were all in the same boat....

Here's what i did:

- Cut the Injen nipple, left about 1 inch....
- Turned the Greddy towards the pass side...
- 3/4 inch hose will bend but creates a kink as casopolis said
- ** solution: using a heat gun, warm up the hose so it becomes malleable, and using a bend as a template or even your hands, make a 90deg bend....cool it down with cold water so it cools with the bend **
- Your result will be a 3-6 inch hose with a 90deg bend...

- I've done this cause i feel that having a long recirc hose might be the reason for the turkey...i haven't actually fired the car, but it will work...
- note: running vaccum off brake booster.
- *** remember to make it as soft as possible when using the greddy as a bpv - Juan from hiboost mentioned this

Note: samco and other silicone hose vendors sell 1 inch hose with 90deg bends...but are very expensive...but would be the best solution

Here's a very rough pic of what i've done:

Dang, I thought of this same idea.....but did not do it because I thought the length of hose did not matter. Man, I even started searhing for my heat gun to bend the hose....
Oh well. I will try this at a later time. Thank you for your input montreal MSP.
So you do not know if this causes turkey since you have not fired the car?

You know you can buy a plastic 90 degree bend at home depot for about 1 dollar. Look in the plumbing section, or where they have the sprinkler set-ups. The ones I got were thicker and longer than the one that came with my Perrin SRI. I've been using them for about 6 months with no problems.
