Recently got an MX6 and my motor died

yep

now I'm stuck with no car and I need a motor.

Its a 93 LS with the 2.5 V6 ... I need another motor for it. If someone wants mine and some cash in trade to rebuild it that's cool.

Please point me in the right direction to find one. This is my 1st Mazda.

Thanks

You can source an engine cheap from another MX6, 626, ford probe, and few other cars if I'm not mistaken.

I'm in Olympia WA - and I work in Des Moines.

So... Anywhere up in Oly to Seattle area

I just moved here broke cause my last job couldn't pay me and I'm startin fresh.

and my car dies.

:P

I'll have to scrape money to get it runnin.

aww sorry to hear that, what exactly happened ? is the whole motor totally gone or did a few components just take a crap ? a ford probe is your best bet of finding a new motor.

1. Check out www.mx6.com - there you will find more info. Look me up i am a veteran there(mx-sixed)

2. Check out Egay or Corksport and look for a JDM KLZE engine and you will need a reprogrammed MX6 USDM ECU from Corksport.

3. Dont get a USDM KLO3 because the KLZE isnt that expensive and you will alot more bang for your buck. Hit me up if you need some help.

Heres my MX6 just for fun :)

I had a buddy who had an mx-6. it was running like s***, wouldn't stay on, just wasn't doing so good. So we changed the plugs, wires, distributor, air cleaner, pcv, did an oil change and duck taped all the leaking vaccum hoses. after an hour of putzing under the hood, we had it running again. sometimes it's all the little s*** that goes on an engine. especially on an older engine.
I don't want to insult your automotive intelligence, so
what do you know about the engine? how was it running before it died?

it was ticking.. a lil lifter knock. I've already taped up the intake parts, checked for air leaks because I noticed it had all been cracking and was running poorly. Changed the plugs and wired.

The rods started knocking CLANK CLANK the motor started shuttering horribly then made some loud noises followed by dying. ... something like that. Its FOR SURE dead.

I know cars enough .. this is my other car, that I built myself.

I think I'll go with the 200hp motor

HOWEVER

its' an AUTOMATIC and I HATE automatics... how hard is a manual swap?

Manual swap is not that hard. If you can turbo a TC, you can easily swap in the 5spd tranny and other needed parts. You can get a USDM 5spd V6 tranny from any junkyard fairly cheap, or look online. Dont go spending extra money on the "JDM" tranny because they are the same. If you have any questions I am sure i can help you get everything you need, i have done a few KLZE swaps in the past few years :)

So I do need the reflash or JDM ecu?

I saw a place to order teh KLZE and it said you 'do not neeeeeed' it but that didn't sound right to me lol

I guess I just need to know if I'm going to run into any general issues or parts I will need for the actual swap that I may not think about or that may not come with/fit up or be compatible with dropping it right in.

You will need the USDM ECU reprogrammed to get the optimal performance out of the engine. You can run the stock ecu, but it will run pretty bad. I will post a few links where to buy that are reputable hope it will help. :)

Intake, headers and exhaust and KLZE is a nice 200-220hp ride.

Since the engine will be out and you will be swapping in the 5spd tranny, you might as well get a new clutch and lightweight flywheel. Will def make a difference also. :) Hope it goes well for you.
