Rebuilding my Engine

Hi everyone I am going to rebuild my motor. Well my two friends will be doing most of it lmao, since I have never rebuilt one before and they have.

I was just wondering what would be some good things to do, and what all should I do. I am going to get the:

Total Engine Rebuild Package - Protege 2.0 Liter
ProtegeGarage Transmission Upgrade Kit
Timing Belt and Tensioner Kit - Protege 2.0 Liter
OBX Stainless Steel Race Header - Protege 2.0 Liter
Unorthodox Racing Underdrive Pulley - 1.8 and 2.0 Liter Engines
Fidanza 7lb Aluminum Flywheel

All from protegegarage.com. But is there anything else I should think about.
I'm going all motor so it will be more a daily driver, because in the summer I plan on getting a ms3, will be, lol I hope. I love that freakin car, I test drove one and it was nice. I have a mazdaspeed exhaust on my car now, and I really like the sound so I don't think I will be changing that. Also any tips on how hard this is going to be, things to look out for and whoever want to come to Memphis, TN and help me, or donate money is welcome. lol jk, no but seriously if you want you can. hahahahahah later thanks for the help, Konstantine.

Well...if you're going to do the work and want to spend the money..why not get forged pistons and rods and go all out? Protegegarage sells that stuff too.

I would like to

But then we are talking another 1400, I still have to finish saving for all that other stuff. lol I deff will be getting them eventually though.

Thats cool...just throwing out ideas.

Oh and also what should I do for a clutch? Go for the exedy stock replacement or the stage 1? I don't imagen I would be making that much more horse power to need a 2. Thanks Konstantine.

If I'd be you, I'd get forged pistons/rods 1st and put the trans. upgrade kit to the last along with the header.

Wait, I'm missing something. Why are you rebuilding? Is it not running? You're not doing pistons and rods, right? Then you're going to buy an MS3? If you aren't going to plan on making big horsepower whether it be N/A or FI, then why are you rebuilding?

If you're not going for big horsepower, don't waste your money. With what you have listed, the stock clutch is capable.

(drinks)

well its got over 145000 on it and not running at all like it used to. But I do want it to be a little quicker than stock. so i guess pistons it is. also it is the car i learned how to drive in, and the clutch def is crapping out a little.

I was just going to rebuild to stock, also I haven't changed the timing belt or anything along with that for 145000. only oil and trans changes.

It just runs verry sluggish. But I'm up for suggestions, what would you guys do? I am planning on getting a MS3 in the middle or end of summer if all goes to plan. But this will be my daily driver and I def do not want to get rid of it. I love this car.

So give me some ideas. Thanks everyone, Konstantine.

Or

should I say screw the MS3, and just put crap loads of money in the protege. and make crazy fast and handle even better than it already does?

No the MS3 is MUCH nicer. Plus you wont have to spend any time gettin it to be ubber fast. You may enjoy it better, depending on what you want to do. I like to work on my car so buying faster car is out of the question. I want to make this one fastar!!

As far as getting the MS3 or sticking with the P5, that's up to you. I would start with giving the P5 a tune up. Do the timing belt, change plugs, change wires, etc. Clean the EGR valve and all that stuff, too. Heck, try some Sea Foam. Go ahead and change the clutch. See how it's running after all that.

Honestly, if you want to stick with N/A, you will never make it anywhere near as fast as you want it to be. But if the P5 is running good after all that, you may decide to keep it because you like it for what it is. And if you sell it, at least it is running well for the buyer. Good luck on your decision.

It's really up to you. Its a loose loose situation. You throw a bunch of money away on your current ride or pay a bunch of money on a new car that instantly depreciates...

GREAT ADVICE!!

well, dont get a new MS3, im sure some used ones will be popping up and you can take advantage of that. A good daily driver is always nice to have, or a backup in the case of bad weather.

You have a P5? If that's the case I personally think that they look good as hell and would rather have a boosted P5 over a MS3. Thats just a personal opinion. Do you have a car payment with the car you have now? If not **** it save your money and do a turbo build on the shaggin wagon!(boobs)
