Rear wiper doesn't clear outer-most third as if there's insufficient pressure

Anyone else notice this? It's a pretty short blade and I'm getting only roughly 2/3 of what it should clear. I thought that there might be a problem with the spring in mine, so I just replaced it with a used one from the wrecker and it's no better.

Here's a shot of the wiper arm mounted as far as I could get it on the motor spline. Does this look right? I thought it should be up tight to the glass but there's no way it's going on that far.

Aftermarket???

I can't explain why nut mine usewd to that. I removed the aftermarket wiper and bought a new one from Mazda (OEM) and everything worked fine after that.

Yeah I pulled the plastic off - the assembly stands proud of the window about that much. +1 on the aftermarket blade being at fault.

I had the same problem when I replaced the wiper arm after the rubber fin got streaky. Fortunately I kept the old arm. The new one didn't touch the outer 1/2 of the glass in its span. I tightened down the bolt but that made no difference. I removed the replacement arm and attempted to bend a curve into the plastic. I broke the arm. I got my old arm and carefully put the fin from the new arm into the plastic of the old one. It works like a charm.

OEM is the way to go...for some reason

I actually came here a few days ago to look this very problem up. I too had put on an aftermarket blade. When my wife brought it in for the Recall repair I told her to buy a rear blade based on responses above. OEM blade works perfectly.

I had this problem a few months ago and Mazdas247 helped me out. Only the OEM blade will work. I was also told that when replacing it next time to just buy the rubber and cut it to fit.
