Rear Wiper Control

I've noticed that when I turn on the rear wiper it completes three cycles then begins to operate in intermittent cycle. Why does it do this - its driving me crazy! There should be a way to turn on the rear wiper so it cycles only once, like the mist function on the front wipers. Every time I want to wipe the rear window without leaving the rear wiper on it wipes three times as though I'm using the washer!!!

I went to the dealer with this specific question and my sales guy asked the parts guys and they said there's no way to reprogram it.

I'm wondering if the Sports w/o the rear spoiler benefit from the 3 wipes... because my Touring definitely does not!

on my sport its 3. it seems a tad overkill when i dont need it wiping that many times but o well.

My touring does it 3 times and every time I just want to hit it once just to see out the back...watching it go 3 times makes me want to kill someone....WHY!!!!! Actually a little asian guy just walked into the room and said that the windshield wiper industry pays mazda to do it so it will wear the blades out faster...

mine does it 3 times aswell, drives me nuts... also when im using the washer fluid, instead of spraying on the window like it does in the front, it just Dribbles out of the nozzle and drips down the window... is this normal, or is mine all FUBAR!

I keep forgetting I actually HAVE a rear wiper let alone turned it on.... Too many years driving a sedan.
Plus I can barely see out of my back window anyways what with the tint and the giant Horde symbol in the center.

normal but mine drizzles quite a bit lol

Mine wants to skip across the rear window - which drives me nuts. It also seems that the best way to use the window washer fluid is to use it during a left turn!

^ ya for real right... im gonna ask @ mazda when i go in for my 1year... that dosent seem normal lol! it only dribbles down the left side of the window, and the wiper barley interacts with it!

Yeah this has always annoyed me. In fact, the dribbling washer fluid annoys me way more than the cycle of the wiper itself.

Oh Redkills, i was just starting to like you, too... :)

yeah, i sent a good deal of the drive from FL to MA looking out my back window trying to figure out how to just get it to go once. i figure if the rear wiper going too many times is my biggest problem, then i'm pretty happy with the car, so I'll live with it.

I agree, but it is puzzling!

Oh yeah, totally no offense to the OP. it's a good question. I support any extra knowledge about the car getting put up here, and if someone finds a way to fix it I'll totally do it :)

I think I may have solved the lousy rear washer problem. Squirt the rear washer fluid while you're going around a curve fairly fast and it runs right to the middle of the window..haha
