Well, my rear sway bar bushings starting clunking again after replacing the stock bushings with the polyurethane bushings. And it figures because its almost exactly on the 6 month mark. You can always count on that. Anyway, Im tired of spending money on bushings and I'm not spending $100+ on a clunk fix kit. I recently replaced my blow-off-valve diaphragm with a bike tire innertube. So I figured, What else can I fix with an innertube?

Temporary/Permanent Pending Clunk Fix
*Remove one rear sway bar bushing bracket.
*Remove bushing.
*Clean area where the bushing was mounted on the sway bar, Then grease it up.
*Cut a bike innertube and size it the the outside of the sway bar. Don't allow it to overlap because this could lead to more clunk.
  • The objective is to create less space between the sway bar and the bushing without any large gaps.
*Install bike innertube over grease, Tape in place if needed.
*Reinstall sway bar bushing and bracket.
*Repeat process for other bushing.
*Enjoy Silence!

i shimmed in between the bushing and the frame mount location with a cut-up piece of gutter. been clunk free for almost a year now :D i think the problem lies in the energy suspension bushings not being a good fit to the sway bar size. i even have the klunk fix kit, which started clunking within 4 months of the initial install. i complained to the vendor, and all i got was i must have installed it wrong.

How the hell can you install in wrong? They will say anything to keep money. But yes, I think the bushings need to be oversized. Fairly oversized so that when they get old and worn, they are still fitting properly. It should be so snug at first that it should be difficult to get it on.

This is helpful, Im gonna start checking on this since Im so tired listening to those clunking sound especially at night.
