rear shock leaking fluid

Been finding little puddles of hydraulic fluid on my garage floor last month or so just inside the driver side rear wheel. The latest puddle was too large to ignore so I need to address it. I took a peek underneath and shock is all oily and obviously leaking out the bottom half. The seal must be shot. Looking for replacement suggestions just for rear shocks. I'm at 48k miles And having it done. No DIY this time.
Also I thought this car had Volvo spec shocks and/or shared pt#s with the 5 for shocks and struts no?

TIA guys

Glad you got the problem solved. I'm at 91,000 miles and just upgraded shocks and struts to Bilstein HDs. OEM parts never leaked, but they had very little rebound or compression resistance left in them.

Yeah thought about going whole hog because the OEM rear shocks were stupid expensive from the dealer but I'm not putting that much $ into this car for now. Most likely in another year I'll unload it for an AWD vehicle with more room and likely less zoom. That's another topic though.

Putting the snows on it tonight and taking off the CAI for now.

Thanks for the reply.

Both my rear shocks were blown at a little over 60k miles.

I ended up going with these KYB's

https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned)

They aren't specified for the MS3 but they are for the Mazda 5 which is obviously is a bigger vehicle. I read on another site that they are pretty close to the OEM's. They are defiantly a lot cheaper!

I've been running them for about 8 months and I haven't noticed any difference in ride quality/ handling than the stock shocks.

I actually discussed KYB with the shop I had do the shocks and I did mention the 5 as model they may need to reference for part#. Anyway, he recommended OEM instead and said they had a lot of warranty work and replacements with KYB not long ago and he said they probably wouldn't last. He didn't want to sell them to me and said they've gone to Monroe or Bilstein now. Ultimately YMMV because I've put KYB on other cars and they were fine for the years I had them afterward - a Mustang and another car.
