Rear engine mount (Dealer trouble?)

Has anyone ever had a problem with their dealer seeing their aftermarket rear engine mount? I am going to take the car in to have some work done and was wondering if this would be an issue.

I don't see what would be the problem if you're just going in for regular service and not warranty work.

If they even notice it to begin with. The AWR piece is identical to stock. I have the TRZ one and its noticeably different but it depends on if they are looking for that or not and know what the stock piece looks like to compare.

Well I was going to have the MS CAI and Exhaust installed and the oil changed, so I figured the car would be up in the air and it would be fairly visible. I think I'll take it off for this visit...

I've got the SU mount (powder coated black). Might be a bit harder to spot.

You're getting THEM to install a MS CAI that Mazda has put a stop sale on and you're worried about an inconspicuous motor mount?

Mazda is selling the part again with the air straightener, someone on this forum picked one up at the dealer a week or two ago.

Yes, it's the same part people have been buying from AEM. The only difference is that the Mazdaspeed instructions tell you to install the AFS so that the vanes are at a 45 degree angle to the MAF sensor- instead of parallel as the AEM instructions say.

No but I guess if you have the straightener, you should change it from parallel to 45 degrees to it. Which I am going to have to go do as well. (but it has been running find so I might keep it parallel)

Regardless, I still think it's unnecessary to remove the motor mount. I certainly don't have the time to go through such an ordeal each and every time I bring my car in for servicing but maybe the OP does.

Make sure they get the right oil. Apparently, many dealers don't know the difference in oil requirements.

I highly doubt they are going to notice your MM. they dont notice mine (AWR). Mine and CWPspeed's dealer is a pretty cool dealer and so far havent hastled us about mods. Silver Ecstasy picked up the brand new MSCAI (after a considereable ammount of work to locate the part and educate TWO dealerships that they are out there and get them to order it. The parts warehouse in NC had 76 of them in stock). It has an extra peice to it in comparison to the AEM counterpart and requires the straightner to be at a different angle to adjust for the air flow. It isnt a big deal. AEM has theirs right, wouldnt worry about it. We will post up more after we install, should be next Thursday at the latest.

Ya I went in and talked to the Parts guy at my dealer and they said they CAI is on back order till the 28th and they could back it up further. Luckily a local friend is selling his speed6 and I got his cobb intake, forge bpv, and wheels! Still gona have them put on the exhaust so I can hear the car better.

You guys kinda think everyone at dealerships know nothing about cars lol.

the techs work and see these cars everyday, they can spot every aftermarket part in an engine bay. Now whether they choose to say anything is up to them. The service part of the dealership works off of comission. which means they want your business. They want you to come back and get work done on your car (w/e it may be, tuneups, repair, etc) so they will make money.

while there are mishaps that happen, its not like its a common occurance across the board where every dealership screws up, breaks this, etc.

Smartest thing IMHO. It takes 10 minutes to take off, if that. Then there is no questions. No phone calls asking about it.

Or, you can talk to the service manager himself. You never know.

I would leave it up to the manufacturing plant in Japan to know the majority about our cars. I really don’t think a 20 year old wyo-tech grad would randomly spot a aftermarket motor mount. I really would not worry about it. Don’t say anything to the dealer and nothing will come of it.
