Rattling in the back near hatch

Anyone notice rattling in the back near the bottom of the hatch in the CX-7?

I hear some rattling noise when going on the highway.

I took out everything down to the spare tire. I even removed the plastic along the bottom edge of the CX-7.

I think the rattling may be coming from the bottom of the plastic bumper rubbing up against the hitch. It doesn't seem to be very secure, although I don't see any way of making it better (no screws to tighten or anything).

I drove around a bit and wedged something in the bottom of the back bumper to keep it from shaking. No rattling then. Definitely the rattling is coming from the bottom of the bumper hitting the hitch. Weird. Guess I'll bring it to the dealer.

Odd, I just had a rattle that popped up and it was because of the pull handle being loose, but it felt tight. ?? I just popped it out and in and the rattling went away, the rattle could have been produced because of the subwoofer though.

I have rattling too but I know what mine is...its the rear license plate which stupidly, does not have screw holes in the bottom of the door for the bottom plate holes. It flutters all the time on the highway and annoys the s*** out of me when my I can't turn the radio up very high (baby in back seat).

I had rattling in the back also. Turns out it was the cargo cover that was flapping around. Once I stretched out the cover the rattling went away. Just FYI something to check.

I have multiple rattles coming from various areas in the rear hatch area, as well as a squeak every time I take off from a stop.

I've taken out all of the loose pieces in the rear that I could find, can't seem to figure out what is making the noise.

I had this exact rattle. You're talking about the pull handle on the bottom of the door for when you are closing the boot right? Going to pop it out and sound deaden the back or something, because it will work loose again..

Also had a license plate rattle... that was fixed with 3m double sided trim tape on the bottom of the plate.

I've got a rattle in the back as well but haven't bothered to track it down yet.

Yeah thats the one!
I think I might super glue it in after I put down some more deadening in the trunk.

^LOL this thing rattles to high hell at highways speeds. I'm glad I'm an audiophile so I can crank the volume, or I would be going bonkers tracing squeeks and rattles. I have a squeek somewhere in the front of the dash at the moment that needs attention. Haven't looked into it yet. Probably resulting from taking the dash apart to install the LOC for my sub amp.

Even with all the noise... wife and I still like the zoom zoom of the engine.

I also have new rattles in the dash, one behind it, sounds like a loose clip, like one of the big clips on the center stack that hold it in, the sunvisors rattle, and one passenger sun visor rattle clip, behind it, like it needs to be tightened, all of these popping up just recently too.

I'm just glad mine is a lease (only 11 months to go, thank jebus)... but I do feel sorry for the person that buys it after I'm done with it.

Mine was defintely the bottom of the rear bumper being loose. I took everything out of the back. I could wedge the bottom of the rear bumper over the wiring harness plug-in for the trailer hitch. Then the rattle went away.

I took it to the dealer and they tightened something up in the bumper. So far so good. No rattling.

My tag rattles too.
