i'm in the middle of upgrading the OEM audio setup... i'm going to be putting in a middle of the road setup in the P5 since i'd rather put the high end setup in my subaru wrx (which btw will be getting fitted with an alpine cda-7998 HU, focal polykevlar 5.25" components front and back, JL 10w6 subs, either JL amps or phoenix gold amps, and dynamat extreme from firewall to trunk, all doors, floors, and roof)...

although i consider myself an audiophile when it comes to home audio equipment... i know very little about car audio other than research i've done online and from talking to the various audio installers in my area... the people that impressed me the most is the place that will be doing the install for my wrx... and that was their recommended install for my budget... unfortunately, they're mainly a "high end" installer and do not really deal with lower end equipment...

on the other hand... doing a cheaper install on the P5... i've yet to come across any installers that impressed me with what they were telling me...

anyways, for the P5 which is mainly driven by my wife... i'm looking to get the following: alpine cda-7894 HU, infinity kappa 5x7/6x8 coax's in the front and infinity kappa 6.5" coax's in the back... i would like to keep the budget under $1000... if i needed to go with subs and an external amp (read below), i COULD extend the budget to $1500 but would rather not...

will the aftermarket 5x7/6x8 and the 6.5" coax's provide sufficient low end (around 40-50 hz)? my wife does not need or want thumping or extremely extended bottom end for the music she intends on listening to... mostly pop/rock and some modern jazz... or would getting one of those amplified bazooka tubes nice round out the bottom end to make the overall sound quality nicer and fuller?

thanks in advance,
tyr

Bass tubes are terrible.
I figure the deck and speakers will set you back about $550-$650 depending on where you buy them. Leaving only $350 for a suib amp isn't alot but it is possible. The JL audio CS110R-W0 is a single JL audio 10W0 in a sealed chamber built by JL and runs $160 retail. For the amp an Alpine MRP-T130 will give you about 130 watts rms and only run under $150 leaving 40 bucks for RCAs and a wiring kit.
