Rant about gas prices again

From a difrent view. In a time where someone said leave cause everything left behind will either be destroyed or killed. You have a suv that can hold alot of personal belongings but won't make it that fa,r or a hybrid that won't hold a normal size suitcase. When you are being told to leave all you own and known as home, which choice will you pick? At the same time most people didn't run to the dealership as soon as they heard that and said "I wanna hybrid". On the gas note there is still goinna be a shortage regardless what the price is cause if you need the gas then chances are you are gonna bite down on you lip and fil her up to get out of dodge. Thats what I'm saying.

Okay Squashbrain, what do you suggest that the unfortunate do...who have empty tanks, and need to go somewhere over the weekend...Gas prices are going up Anyway weither or not people top off their tanks....point is Gas is needed in the US...I am not trying to turn this into a flame war. You wanna be tough and insulting on the internet to make yourself feel good fine...Point remains you have no allies here...and you are not helping , you are insulting...go away

Alright, asshat, I suggest the unfortunate fill up their tanks or stay home. I also sugguest the people with 1/2 a tank of gas and don't need gas to stay the **** home.

GAS PRICES AREN'T GOING TO SKY ROCKET UNLESS THERE'S A SHORTAGE CAUSED BY EVERYONE TOPPING OFF THEIR TANKS.

I mean, do you understand this? I'll make you a chart if you want, cause I still don't think you grasp this consept. Just because you suck at zingers, and tried to pull a (weakest) doesn't make you less of an Internet tough-guy. You are just bad at it, shitbrain.

To me not having allies here, (encourage. What does that even mean?

I'm not defending the SUV owners entirely but if you are told GTFO and america's propganda told you A SUV or a Pickem up truck was how to be a real american then you have no choice but to bite the bullet and get gas for that drive out of town or state.

So you pick the SUV cause you can fill it full of s*** and get stranded on the grid-locked freeway or drive your hybrid car (which is a stupid argument, we could just say Protege cause I can idle my car all ******* day on a full tank) and actually make it out of the city? I am still not feeling sorry for the people who bought the SUV status symbol and are now ****** because of it. Boo hoo to them.

So ignorance is an excuse. (notcool)

so what you are saying is if you bought a suv you are scewed stean a gas efficent car or risk the chance of dying?

I love the fact by law in a time of crisis nothing is alowed to raise the prices except gas. In texas for the past week you are only alowed $30 worth of gas here at one station and another only let you get $20. I understand the fact if you drive an suv $20 is like just enought to get you 2 blocks, but if you are told to leave your home and idle your SUV on the highway for god knows how long then How much gas is $20? I'm like the only person I know that never lets my tank get below half or even 3/4.

federal law says that you can take avantage of a crisis to over charge for products and services unless it can be justified. Meaning that if you own a store and you decide to triple the cost of bottle water for no reason other than you know there is someone out there that will because they have no choice but to pay your price. The loop hole here for the gas companies is that they can justify the cost increase from what has been already mentioned in this thread, shutting down production. Other countries pay more for gas because they tax fuel more. This was done in some cases to make up for taxes, like sales tax, income tax, whatever and also to fund public transit. Which is something that the US should have done along time ago(put more funding in public transit.) But this lead most to think that their elected government is sleeping with gas companies. How much do gas companies invest into this country? I talked to a local police office that enforce gas station regulations. At the time he had been doing so for about 10 years. He said that he test gas for it quality and its octane and pumps to see if the amounts given and price per gallon were correct. He has said there wasnt one gas station that ever pasted all the testing. By law he could shut down the gas station and it would have to pass the testing before it could re open. This has never ever been done. This is revenue that the state would never give up even for just one gas station. The station would be given the smallest fine possible and he would move on to the next station.... BTW my Camaro got 23mpg all city this week!!!

Well, this year when it was time to buy a new car my family was pretty well off, so we bought a semi-truck. When the flood waters came I was alble to load everything my family owned into the back of the trailer and we got stuck on the freeway and caused an even larger traffic problem. It's not my fault, I was just buying what I saw on TV!

vs.

I own a regular car, my family and I got the things we needed to stay in a hotel for a few days, along with some famly photo albums and important documents and we made it out ok.

LOL whatever man....your kindergarden insults amaze me.

The Point is, and you can put up any bulls*** chart that you want to find around the crack of your ass..If people went to the pump, or not PRICES WOULD STILL BE HIGH...It's called Sheisting money from an unfortunate situation...Been like that throughout history, Now boy..Have a Nice day

The funny thing is, the only reason the prices here went up was because of some stupid rumor. It settled back down as fast as ir went up.

Dig elsewhere.. Like where?* We have already started re-drilling sites that were previously deemed empty. It's taking a lot more energy to get the oil out of the ground than it was not very long ago. There's no more oil being made, and we are using it all up. This is what I don't think you understand, we will see the end of oil in our life times. The party's about up, and it's going to get REALLY expensive.

Also: High here? Why is America so special we get cheap gas? Welcome to living on the planet Earth, gas is expensive.

*Like in the Alaskan nature preserves too? Too late. (headshake

do some research. Oil is not taking more power to extract than it used to. Technology is advancing, but the oil industry is only now adapting to technology developed years ago. Using all the oil up? like the hundreds of billions of proved reserves in just Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, UAE, Russia, and in the Gulf?

Learn some facts. The United States has plenty of crude oil, we're "well over" the upper end of the average range for crude inventory.

The ONLY REASON gas is so high is because we don't have the capacity to refine it fast enough. Trust me, after this, we'll see new refineries built for the first time in 29 years.

EDIT: I'm fine with paying higher prices for gasoline, just setting some facts.

I pay the most, 8$ per gallon, yay (guitar) yes it's unleaded.

shut the **** up will, you can't even afford gas. I bought you lunch last week. We don't pay s*** for gas compared to what other countries pay. I was paying 3.20/L of petrol in germany a couple years ago. That was high then. Now it's astromonical. Take your 2.79 per gallon and cry about it somewhere else. It could and will be 10x worse soon.

They already are here in Arizona (East of Yuma, I believe). It will be complete in 2010 I believe....just thought I'd share my knowledge.
