Ok, so I knew I was low on gas, low-light coming on about 30miles ago, but I know it had at least another 1.5gal left, so I thought.

Anyway, was driving on one of local freeways here yesterday during some errands and about 1/2 mile of clear road suddenly opened up, a rare sight around here. So took the opportunity to open her up. Just as I passed 100, engine cut out. First I thought ECU cutting boost, perhaps due to CAI I just installed last week, but no CEL. So waited a few sec, then gave it gas, but nothing. Then realized now all the dash lights are on and steering was really heavy. Couldn't be out of gas already, thought to self as I took an offramp and stopped on the shoulder.

3hrs later, turns out I was indeed out of gas. But when I filled up right after aaa put in a gallon, I was only able to put in 12.8 gal. That means 14.9 is either wrong or there's some kind of 'safety' feature that cuts off fuel when there's about a gallon left.

Anyway, my main concern is whether there was any damage to drivetrain by driving in gear w/o gas. Car drives fine, no weird smell or sound.

probably no damage honestly. once you have no fuel the engine becomes a giant air pump basically. no combustion, just rotating assembly.

funniest thread i have seen today though.
