Most winter rallies in NAmerica do not permit studded tires. Those Subies and our Mazda3 rallycar all have heat but some cars don't and instead have a heated windsheild (expensive) to act as a defroster.

It negative 10 or so here and the flaps are still super flexable, like it wasn't even cold. I think they are awesome personally, and they serve great purpose

Just a heads up to those who want to install these for the winter and take them off during the summer. The rears require that you pop a couple of factory rivets. Not a big deal if you have a riveting tool but this isn't something I'd choose to do on a seasonal basis. Also, you'll be replacing other hardware as well so hopefully your organized enough to keep track of the stuff that comes off your car.

You replace the rivets with a machine screw. You can just put that back or something discrete for the summer. A smaller black delrin washer with who knows an anodized black screw ...
As i've said before they ain't hte pretty things but they do kick ass now and i'm saving my paint.

we just got some ice and snow here in MA and will be all week. ill collect some pictures for everyone to show how they work. i checked when i got out of work and they did theyre job for sure. more postings at end of week.

Uhmm, that is not a rallycar,....... at least anymore. Think we are doing hillclimbs and TimeAttack events in 2009.
But, Tim ONeil's Mazda3 rallycar is rumored to be entering the Team Oneil Rally in New Hampshire with a guest driver and SnoDrift ProRally in Michigan with Tim driving in the near future.

soooo pics of flaps and show tomorrow afternoon. were getting about a foot of snow and i have to drive home in it. the pics will either be that of snowy mud flaps or a broken car. lol.

I CAN'T WAIT!!! Just hope its the same issue we had last year my 20 minute commute turned into a 4.5 hour ordeal.
EDIT: Crappy photo w/ my iphone. it was snowing hard do I didn't take more. Front passenger side. There's some sludge build up about a foot aft the wheel well but just a little and then some in the wheel well but not a lot. The flexible portions the stuff just falls off.

I had em on my previous STI.... and they snap VERY easy when its cold out. Snow snapped 2 of mine in a 2 day period of driving. THey were ordered off their site so I know they werent knock offs. They werent the thin ones either, theyre the heavy duty ones. THey all made clean breaks around the middle where they drop below the cars body. They suck in my opinion but look cool.

These mudflaps rock, and there's way too many whiney bitches in here. They do more than keep your car clean, they protect it from rocks and all sorts of undesirable debris. We have had well over a foot of snow this weekend and its been about 14-20F here. They have taken all abuse without a problem, and I run Hankook iPikes on steelies. This car could be a rally car the way it handles in the snow.

i agree....the stuff that the flaps block and dont let hit the body dont even stick to the flap. i thought id have something to take a pic of but my mudflaps stay clean. the stuff just falls off of them.
skubidoobie....get ready...its supposed to flood in the next few days. lol. gotta love MA.
