Radio Replacement Question
Hello!

I am brand new to the forums and I have a pretty loaded question from the get go.

I own a 2007 Mazda3 2.0 Automatic.

Yesterday on my way home from work my stereo starting smoking out of the CD insert slot. My display promptly shut off and the trip meter reset. My key fob does not unlock my car and my gas gauge will not move to F after a refill.

I assumed my stereo was fried and I will need to check the fuses. So I bought a salvage radio for $150. I am going to install it over the weekend. After I remove the old radio and insert the new one, is there anything I should be aware of? Is it that easy or will I need to have it programmed to my car?

I'd just like to know before I go ahead and do this. Thanks for your help!

Also, if you think I made the wrong move by assuming the radio is fried then tell me what I SHOULD have done. lol

Remove old stereo. Insert new stereo. Check all your fuses and replace as necessary. Enjoy.

the key itself should be fine, but you may need to reprogram the keyfob if it doesnt work. its really easy. just pm me and ill send you the directions if you need

I don't know much about cars but if your gas guage or key fob doesn't work from a smoking CD player, there MAY be another issue other than a busted-ass CD player.
