Radar Detectors?

I wouldn't trust it if you're a hardcore speeder. For the occasional "Oops", then try it. Otherwise, stick to the Escort 8500.

I have an escort 8500 and find it very very very accurate..helped me out a lot of times..and i just bought it 3 months ago!!

Can it detect the aircraft radars too? Because now they are trying to use helies and flights to catch speeders eh. And one more question, I know its illegal in Canada, so wont it be detected from a patrol cars or something? Because police do carry radar detector!!!!

I wish I had a "cop behind you detector", cause I just got pulled over for going 82 in a 55mph speed zone on 95. COPS SUCK! Think I should fight it?

Valentine Ones will pick up cops behind you, to the front, sides of you and helicopter signals as well and supposedly has the farthest range and variety of detection gear - the downside being price ($400) and weight. Many people claim it constantly flies off the window.

Any decent radar detector will detect behind you all Escorts will as will the valentine. The Escort though is NOT detectable by law enforcement agencies and can add the ZR# laser shifting to it. Estialy Lazer is a point and shoot system so if your detector only warns you then it basicly tells you you just got F'd. The ZR3 will not allow them to target the car with lazer at all.

The best system is the escort SRX :D.

Most hellicopters..do not have radar guns or anything like that..

They do this:

The use a stop watch..and measure how many white line..you go through in 60 seconds..and using a formula..they can determine your speed..not to mention..they record the whole thing..so you can't beat it in court...my uncle is a cop...

P.S. what's the difference between my escort 8500 & your srx???

I've also ben looking at getting a radar detector...The main thing is they are ilegal here in Cali as well. I was looking for something that doesn't have to be on the windshield if possible. Is the Escort one like that?? Normally I listen to my music pretty loud, so how would I notice the radar going off, would I have to lower my radio volume??

the srx has sensors u put behind ur front and back bumpers and u have a gauge u put on the inside of ur car.... its a real nice setup but expensive...

WHISTLERS SUCK!!!

I had one. Paid $150 for it. 9 months later, the speaker went out. Didn't have the receipt, so I was screwed.

Figured I would give them another chance. Bought another. 8 months later, SAME F&*#ING THING! Had the receipt, but I was through with Whistler.

I now have an Escort 8500. I always keep in on Highway, though. Auto just scares me. It waits until a certain signal strength and starts going nuts! I like a little warning, thank you very much. I have yet to look at the manual as to what I can program.

For a stealth detector, the K40 is a good choice. It gets installed by your local stereo shop, so there no big ass wart hanging on your window (one of my least favorite things about a detector).

The Escort SR7 and SRX are permanetly installed radar detectors that are not detectable by law enforcement and are all but totaly stealth. Nothing goes on the windshield.
Look at http://www.escortradar.com/index.htm
As for the difference between the SR7 and SRX, the SRX has the ZR3 laser shifter built in.

I don't have any radar detector

I dont think radar detectors are illegal in California..I could be wrong, but I don't think they are...

EDIT:
I went to check just to make sure...here's the link, scroll down to the table and for California it says "Not Regulated"
