Radar Detector - Weird Behavior

thats what i was thinking lol. i been wantintg a valentine one but i cant spend the 4 bills it takes.
i got to figure something out.

hehe..well i think with the issue with your intake i think 10-12 days of speed limit driving might be good =P

you are right about that, except that i drive so much that if i drive speed limit all the time, i would waste at least 2 hours a day of my life in a car.
So far i have not expereinced any probelms with the CAI since the last time, i will prob push it a little more today and see.

I have teh same issue, but mine hits laser sometimes under boost. Its very touchy about it too, and when you are slamming it, you dont want that thing going off because you can almost throw up your heart when it goes off.

It has started to say service required. I might sell it cheap and go with an x50 or v1

I just got my MS3 last week and my Passport 8500 has started doing the same thing under anything more than mild/slow throttle input. If I slowly speed up it's fine. I had to pass someone yesterday and gave it a bit more gas and my LASER went off like a mad man!

Never happened in the MP3 or even when I had it in my MR2. Looks like I gotta call Escort later. . .

lol. sorry to hear man. escort will charge you approx 60 to fix it. I got used to it, doesnt even bother me anymore and it happens only at times.
im just gonna let this radar stay as is until i get a new car.

Yeah i just think it needs some fixing but i do want a v1 really bad

I have a V1 and I'm experiencing simpilar problems. Laser just started going off the other day for no reason and I get lots and lots of false signals. I also have a problem with my phone (Samsung A900) that when it searches for a signal, the V1 goes off. Then there's the super sensitivity to other people's swap meet detectors. I really hate it when one of those fuckers is following me on the highway.

My x50 does some weird stuff too. It constantly going off on Ka for my entire 25 mile trip to work. It will go off for about 10 sec then stop for a sec then go again. I think it has something to do with the heat though, since it doesn't seem to do it as often if I'm driving at night or if I take it down while it sits outside. I'll probably give them a call. How long is the warranty on these things?

I was told by Escort Tech people that there is a blocking plate inside the device that blocks interference from below (coming from the dash/engine) and so it had to be reset and secured.
I have found that if when you start driving you just rev up the car (over 3k or 3500 RPM) then you will have that annoyance for the length of the trip. But if you take it easy at the beginning, you wont hear a peep from it. so the lesson is to stop being a lead foot and you will be all set.

I was having the same problem with my escort 8500 and i found on an acura forum that it was interference with the engine. The sheilding around the lazer sensor is clipped on and it sometimes comes loose. All you have to do it open it up and re-secure it. Since I did it I haven't had a problem.

The lazer sheild is a long rectangle structure under the horn shaped structure for the radar sensors. All you have to do is pinch the corners together, make sure all the mounting clips are nice and tight and your good to go.

Good Luck
