Racing Beat or AEM?

make sure the air filter itself is still in good shape, and that he cleans it before selling it to you
hahaha, well, i don't think it matters anymore..

i'm already counting my cash and looking at intakes.
but it's still in my mind.

K - I dont post here much - but wanted to try and help. Intakes are like ice cream - lots of flavors and they all are cold - meaning they produce about the same gains.

There is some good data out there for Miata intakes. Having worked in the Miata aftermarket industry and having sold a thousand of these things, the best bang for the buck is the Racing Beat - Standard Intake.

The newer CF Intake is quite nice.

The one that sold the best for us (Rspeed.net) was our Monsterflow Unit. Great sound and easy design.

One of my favorites is the K&N short track intake - seen below:

Don't forget to keep checking Miata.net 4 Sale Section.

I may even have some old Monsterflow parts around (now working somewhere else) - so building a good intake is easy - you just need to have a newer or decent filter that is clean and in good shape. Go with paper filter if possible as well.

Monsterflow was good for 10hp gains according to Goodwin racing's dyno runs. I think the RB advertises 5 hp gain.

Here was my set up

Get the Monsterflow intake from goodwin racing www.good-win-racing.com

Brian has some nice stuff (intakes exhaust etc.). You could also get in in carbon fiber to match your new hood right? :-)

which intake should I get?

I have a good deal on a RB intake and I'd be paying full price for a AEM.

suggestions?

I gotta say though....I like that K&N shorty since it will be the coldest air of all the ones we have shown......maybe go with that one. :-)

My PO put an AEM on my car... It sounds nice. I don't know that it really makes any other difference.
