I have read in many threads that noone makes a rail that will mount up race seats in the MSP....

Have any of the Mazda aftermarket companies made a seat/rail combo that actually works?

I cannot stand these stock seats anymore! i try to corner hard and white-knuckle the durn wheel so my butt doesnt slide into the passenger seat due to lack of bolstering!(help)

thanks in advance!

I know people have been able to get aftermarket seats to work, as there are a large number of MSP's running around with torino's or bride's. Azian6er has Bride seats I'm pretty sure, and sp33d has sparco torino's. They could probably tell you where to get sliders.

Wedge Enginnering also makes brackets that fit our car. Momo and Sparco (I think) sell brackets that are actually the Wedge brackets.

If you buy Koenig seats, they come with Protege-fitting brackets and Recaro will have their own brackets out (someday).

In my Cavalier, I got an extra set of stock seat brackets. All I had to do was buy some angle iron, cut it and sand it. I then cut down the slider bars and bolted the seat's metal brackets to the angle iron and the angle iron to the slider bar.

Huzzah! Racing seats that slide back and forth for an extra 30 bucks.

Just bought a set of Recaro SE seats. Wedge Engineering produces brackets for major and minor seat brands (Momo, Sparco, etc. I think) and that's where I'm buying the brackets for my Recaros.

ok so theoretically (sp?) all i'd have to do was buy my sparco torinos and MMR's seat brackets....do a little installation and i'm good to go or would i still need to buy something else?

You'll probably need the sliders that sit between the mounting bracket and the seats themselves. You should be able to get that from Sparco.

I ordered a black one of these today (Far cheaper than the Torino, but we will see if I like it): http://www.corbeau.com/products/a4/a4.shtml
and one of these:

(The 2000-newer Protege is not listed on the website, but my supplier ordered one anyway.)

I will post when I get it in and installed.

Does anyone know how to re-use the factory female seatbelt stalk since it is integrated into the OEM seat? I want to reuse it so I wont HAVE TO use my 3 point harness in the winter (bulky jackets, etc). Thanks!

Yes, the female seatbelt buckle thingee is currently mounted to the Mazda seat frame. You will need to remove this and reinstall it onto the new seat bracket.

Sparco makes bases and adapters for the protege as well. that's what I'm running currently for my Torino seat.

Cool, thank you!!
