R35 Skyline in US?

you are right Bijou, it says so in the magazine article if you read it carefully, its only a mock up, using the g35. But The skyline type r is already out in japan using the same body and everything, that is shared with its american counterpart, the g35 coupe. I don't understand why nissan would go and make a whole new body styling for one model car. All they needed to do was put a beefier more balls out motor and that 8 speed (or however many) gearbox in there, and slap on the GTR badges and bing bang boom there ya go. I do wish that the GTR would be released as a skyline though, not like an "Infinity G35-R" or something. Peace out

definatly stick with the R34 preferably in a sedan. Then only reason they would go V8 is to try and keep the same power because the sr24dett can't pass emissions

i don't think they make gt-r's in sedans, only gt-s's. they said they are going with a v-8 because of california's emissions laws after a certain age and turbo's having a tough time standing up, so they aren't using the vg30dett that other countries will get. also, what is an sr24dett?

The sr24dett is the classic skyline engine i guess you could say the most famous. It is in the same model (sr) like as the sr20det that came in the silvias but bigger (24) and twin turboed (dett). It had been a trend for supra owners to modify the supra to fit the sr24dett because of its history and the shear power you could get form the motor. But from every super street or import tuner mag I read about people swapping or trying to upgrade it was to the sr24dett.

I'm going to have to look up the vg30dett it might be the newest one I havn't heard of it. I am ceritain the sr24dett was in the other skylines atleast like r32 r33.

the vg30dett is the twin turbo motor that came in the 300zx's
that makes sence.

Ok the vg30dett is a twin turbo V6 as compared to the sr24dett which is a twin turbo inline 6

Now there was and option for a rb20det on the r32 I can only assume that that there was an engine option when purcasing the car.

rb20det

those are rb motors, sr is a 4 cyl. series of motors, i believe 2.0 being the biggest but i'm not sure, rb is a six. skylines used either an rb25det or rb26dett i believe starting with the r32 in the early 90's. and i made a mistake, they are trying to use the vq30dett, the same basic block as the z/g35 but less displacement and 2 turbos.
edit: i was wondering why they would twin turbo a 4 cyl motor, which is why i asked

Now I got to go back and figure out where I got the sr24dett form. I know I've seen it in a mag before. maybe it was just modified like a stroked sr20 with an extra turbo

as far as i know, there is no such thing. scc was trying to do something with putting a ka crank in an sr20 motor, making it 2.4 liters, but it wouldn't be a dett, the tt means twin turbo, and 4 cyl's weren't meant to have 2 turbos

Yeah I know the TT thing, and TT would be a little much for a 4 banger but damn I'm goign to have to do some searchin cause this is going to bother me
