Quick spoiler question. Please help!

I just bought my first Mazda6 yesterday. It is an 05 Mazda6 i, steel gray metallic.

Anyway, the car that I got did not come with a rear spoiler but I really want to put on the basic rear spoiler. Many sites say that I must have the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL) cover, if I want to install a spoiler.

Exactly what is the CHMSL? Do I really need it?


Also, how difficult is the spoiler to install? Should I have it professionaly done, or is it something I can do by myself?

the spoiler will incorperate a Center Brake light. The CHMSL cover will cover up the hole left when you remove the one in the rear ledge...

Not all of the spoilers have the light in them though, so can't I just leave the one that is already there alone and put the spoiler on? And not have to spend an extra 50 buck to get the cover. Also, the cover only comes in three colors, of which my car is none, so won't that look weird?

I don't know, I just got my 6 yesterday so it is still very new to me.
