Quick question, Big guy looking at a miata

Hi, I'm new to the Miata thing, I've been looking for something to replace my v6 Mustang with that is a rwd 2 seater, I've been looking at Fieros MR2s 300zs etc and I think a Miata is the way to go for me. Just had a couple questions about em before I offer someone my mustang for their Miata.

1. I'm 6'3" 230 lbs. Will I fit? When I had my Toyota Paseo I pretty much had to keep my head in the cutout for the sunroof.

2. What is the actual fuel economy? I looked on fueleconomy.gov because they're usually fairly accurate and they said 21 city 26 highway. I would think it would be more like 28 city 32 highway.

3. From looking at the forum I see that the motors last quite awhile. How much life can I expect to get out of one? The Miata I'm looking at has 230k miles.

4. Anyone around New York want to trade their Miata for my 1996 3.8L v6 5spd Mustang? It has 94k miles and is in great condition, I can send pics upon request.

Thanks for the help in advance guys.

You'd be more comfortable in a 300ZX. I have a few friends around 6'2" 220 lbs and they have enough head room with the top up but leg room isn't the greatest... in the passenger seat. It's even worse in the driver's seat.

My MSM gets 22 city/30 highway if I lay off the boost. The non turbo Miatas are generally a few mpg better.

Engines are pretty reliable. 230k, if the oil has been changed consistently, shouldn't be an issue.

That actually helps quite a bit, the reason why I wasn't looking too hard at the z is that I just can't get myself to like the way it looks. Maybe I'll see if I can find one on campus and get the owner to let my try out a sit. Hopefully it is a good fit. But from what its looking like its not gonna be great.

BTW you guys seem to have the greatest car community ever. All the other forums for tuner cars are full of flame posts. Keep it up.

Here's to you

love your smilies (cheers)

which Z generation are you looking at, the Z31 or Z32?

The Z32 is one of the best looking cars around despite its age, imo.

1. it'll be tight in the later ones. I'd recomend a NA for more room. You can easily take foam out of the seats. i did that, and it was even more comfy than OEM

2. I got 31mpg on the highway, and combined of 25 (1.6l)

3. 230k is pushing it without know the history. When i took my head off at 205k the cylinder walls still had the hash marks.

4. ...

if your 6'3 you would lift better in a speed3, plus its faster, plus it has more room to hual stuff, plus its faster than the z :)

yeah it was the z32 that i was looking at, and if i were to get a miata i would get an NA(really all i can afford). I just really gotta get rid of my mustang first, or get a decent trade for one of these cars, but I keep getting offers for stuff like ATVs, 1984 ford broncos, and stuff like that. One guy offered me a 1967 cougar and I checked it out and its in great shape but its an ugly ugly brown.

yeah, but with a Miada, the top goes down. not a lot can be subsituted for the sun on your face, and wind in your hair.
