Questions About Pro5's Exhaust System!

1. Anyone know how to gut a Pre-Cat??
2. If i gut it will it thow a CEL??
3. I heard if we take off the cat(not pre-cat) we won't get a CEL...is this true??
4. What size pipe can i run to replace it? I don't want to weld b/c if i have to replace it for emmission purposes..
5. What kind of gains can i expect from a DIY(Do It Yourself) Mod like this??

The pre cat is the restriction not the cat. so you can remove it with no CEL and no perfomance advantage either.

Hey Patio...I heard that even running 2.25" piping will not do much b/c of the restriction of the precat!

That's why i just did a custom axel back...

Just an axleback, the MP5 has a good exhaust system on it. The HP gains are not worth the money for a cat back unles you go turbo. Just my $.02

DO NOT GUT YOUR CAT> Spend about $25-50 bucks having a test pipe made and just replace the thing. then when inspection rolls around just take the test pipe off and put the cat back on and no problems. That is unless you want to spend the $500 plus it is going to cost you to replace the cat and get it reinspected and possibly even fined. But thats just my opinion.

What do you mean...Run a test pipe for both cats??? Won't that cause a CEL...i figure w/ gutting my pre-cat..i would still pass emmisions! I heard that if i leave the pre-cat alone..and run a test pipe through the Cat(2nd one) that the gains will be minimal b/c the pre cat is very restrictive...



Also anyone know what is the Stock Pipe size of the Pro5?????
