Questions about my air filter

So, when i bought my car, it had the stock airbox removed, and was replaced with some sort of air filter, however i don't know what kind it is. If anyone knows what it is, that would be great, because i want to make sure i take proper care of it. Also, there is a wire going into the end of it, which can be removed by a connector, which i first thought was just drilled into the filter and stuck there (certainly something the original owner might have done, he wasn't the brightest), but it actually seems to be a part of the filter with that wire being intended to be there. Can anyone tell me what that wire is?? It comes out of the same group of wires as the stuff for the MAF.

No idea on the filter. Just look a bit dirty. The sensor is the Intake air temperature sensor and it needs to be in the filter.
If the filter is hold I will suggest changing it with something like a K&N RX 5090.

By the way, how does the car sounds and works with that?

You can also pick a stock one for like 30 dollars.

Hope it helps

Okay, thanks for the info.

As for the sound and functionality, i don't notice any particularly cool sound, but then i don't have anything to compare it to, likewise for the performance. Wish i could help more there.

Now, if i picked up a K&N, would it have the same connector for the sensor??

edit. didnt see above posts lol

re edit.

NO a kandn wont. you need to remove the sensor from the filter and reuse it.
