I really don't want to stir any s*** with the RX-8 owners BUT i took one for a test drive like 3 days ago (before it snowed like a mofo) and i was really dissapointed. Going from the seat of my pants i would have to say that my MSP is probably faster from light to light. I know the car is super hi-reving and i may not have been used to the gearbox (kinda wierd isn't it?) and cluch but after a few stall's i started to get the hang of it and the performance didn't change. I'm only bringing this up cause i'm due for a change and i had my heart set on the 8. Maybe I just over-hyped myself but I've driven lots of "sportscars" and never once got out of my test dirve so frustrated. Can someone please set me straight.....i feel like i was just told Charlize Therron is a man! (boom07)

You probably don't have driving experience to drive the RX8 correctly, hence the stalls, and the use of 'stop-light to stop-light' phrase. (shrug) What were your expectations? The RX8 is a 'momentum' car. If you are worried about stop-light to stop-light, find a mustang, etc. :) I'd wager you havent driven lots of sports cars. You may have driven 'fast cars' but not every fast car is a sports car.

If you'd like a mid-high 14 second 4-seater with exotic looks and pretty good handling, the RX8 would meet your wants. If you want to win drag races, buy an STi. :)

You need to drive it more to get a feel for it. Its not a 'stoplight' racer, its more of a 'driving for the fun of it' car.

Dude I refuse to get into a "my dick is bigger than yours" fight with you. Your response had me laughing. You don't know me, you don't know how I drive and you don't know what cars Ive driven! It pisses me off that I came here to ask a question based on my experience with a car and I get insulted by some dude that cant think of a constructive way to respond to my question. I will say this though..I worked as a jockey for VW, Audi and Porche SO Ill let your brilliant mind deduct what I have and havent driven. BTW i use the term "light to light" cause i was TEST DRIVING the car....in a major metropolitan city...what do you think i could have done....I had 20 mins with the car, was i supposed to take a drive up north to catch the twisty contry roads? or should i have brought the car to 240km/h on busy highways durning rush hour trafic?

SuperMario: Thanks bro, i'll see if i can get my dealership to lend me one for the day once the snow melts, i'm still really interested in the car but was caught off gaurd by its powerband. This is the first time i've driven a rotary...i'm sure its just me that has to get used to it.

Translation: I cannot take criticism. I take everything personal because i'm insecure.

You are saying exactly what I'm saying - you did NOT drive the car in a way which it's suited. Whether that is because you don't know how (which I really suspect) or because you didn't have the opportunity is irrelevent.

Fact is, you need to know the car is not a straight-line acceleration beast. It's decently quick "stop light to stop light" but until you plant the throttle coming out of a nice corner you won't think the car is 'fast'.

Now why didn't you just put it like that the first time you replyed? I'm a big boy...i would have figured out what you meant. I never asked for criticism...i asked why the car seemed slow to a MSP owner. You took it upon yourself to criticize me and my post. Now to end this stupidity....I thank you kindly for wording your opinion in such a way that i can understand!

I had p5 before I got my 8, and yeah, it isn't neck snapping car....no torque. In fact, it just isn't fast at all compare to the cars in this price range.(Talking about straight line...)

But this car is just AMAZING, it really feels like its is part of my body when I am driving. It's kinda hard to explain, but that term" Jinba-ittai" really works here. The chasis dynamic is friggin great, and it is comfortable as hell on daily driving. All you have to do it rev above 4-5rpm and you got one fun car. Keep it under 5k rpm and you got very quiet daily driver.

Keep in mind that if you like modding, then you'll have tough time with this car. Any mod beside turbo and NOS will give you very minimal performance gains. Eats quite a gas, and requires routine oil check and adding them.

With all said and done, I love this car. I test drove Evo 9 and it just reminded me how much I still love my car. Evo was FAST, but interior was bland, and it just ain't sleek looking. But to each of his own. (thumb)
