Question on TPMS for 2016 CX-5 (not sensors)

:
2016 CX-5 Touring AWD
2019 CX-5 Reserve AWD
Does anybody know if the TPMS icon will light if pressure is increased in tires as opposed to psi just dropping below a programed threshold?

This happened this morning - had tires rotated at dealer. Left dealer about 2 miles later the TPMS warning chimed and the dash icon lit.
Stopped and looked at tires. They all looked fine. Drove rest of way home, checked pressure, all tires at 36 psi. Tech must of added air because I
keep pressure around 33-34psi. Did he forget to reset the TPMS?

For your 2016 cx5, that uses the ABS wheel speed sensors. All it does is detects a difference in wheel rotation from that which was set. So less or more air pressure or even the tire rotation moving the tires to a new position if the tread depth is different.

I would suspect the tech did not reset the TPMS after the work was completed.

I think you're right and he didn't reset it. I had to go back out so I reset it and drove about 8 miles and it did not come on. Hopefully that's all it was.

Yes thats it exactly. Combo of new tyres with greater total diameter (full tread depth vs worn) and different pressures. Had to reset mine after new tyres same as you did.

I didn't get new tires, only rotation. It's been couple days and the light has not returned so I'll chalk it up to distracted service tech. The service video showed him rotating and checking everything so he must of just forgot to hit the reset button.
