Question on subs??

Hi I have a protege 5 and I wanted to know what kind of 12" sub to get cause I have a Rockferd fosgate 1 channel 200 watt amp and I want to know know what kind of sub would be a good match. Also if it has anything to due with what kind of sub i can get I listen to alot of rap and reggae. Tank q

is it a punch or a power amp?

and if its only 200w x 1 at 4ohm, you're not going to get s*** for a good sub.

i got the p5 also best bet do a single sub with it. If you got a 200 wat amp u can push a infinity 12" reference series sub. Or even the 10" would be better rms is 200 peak is a 1000 so u can push it nice with whatever amp. They are resonable in price dont pay over $120 for sub and box.

another good choice would be The JL Audio CS110R-W0 PowerWedge system is a good sized subwoofer to compliment the audio system. It is a 10" subwoofer in a sealed enclosure. Just hook it up and go.....I have one....sounds damn good and the box fits PERFECTLY up against the back of the rear seat in my P5 and fires backwards.

i did a whole infinity sound system with rockford amps i hit 145 on the db meter with it all custom.

We need to know the amp model number or its specs to determin if you need a 2 or 4 ohm sub.

and you can get plenty of bass with 200 watts. more then enough to destroy your hearing over time.

Well i got a bite of a problem cause my car is actually at home in GA and i am attending school in RI but in 2 weeks ill be home and able to give you the specs on the amp in detail. Its a punch amp. Damn I thought i would be able to run a fairly good 12" sub cause i have a JBL 1000 in a individual sub box and it hits very good but I wanted another sub cause honestly dont like JBL. Not saying there bad but is not my preference you ya know. but thanks for the input. I not i can try and sell the amp and sub, then what would be a good amp and sub for the specs and music i play in my car ???

what model number amp is it? I can look up the specs.

if you one sub on 200 watts hits hard enough for you then you don't need a new amp. there is no rule saying you have to have 1000 watts of bass. if 200 watts was fine for you don't waste your money on another amp.

200 watts and a set of 8's can do high 130 dB range

that's plenty for most people. i put the box and 8's in my dad's car and he loves it(yes)

i think i've proven enough times that i can post up dB #'s, but in this thread they are 100% pointless(dunno)
