Hi,

2002 Protege5. Browsing Crutchfield, looking at getting something nice ... and noticed this listed in the Installation details for the P5:

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="5" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td>
</td></tr> <tr><td> <table border="0" bordercolor="blue" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tbody><tr><td colspan="5" valign="middle">
Installation Details for your <!-- mp_trans_disable_start -->2002 Protege5<!-- mp_trans_disable_end -->
</td></tr> <tr><td> </td><td valign="top"> </td><td colspan="3" valign="top"> To install this product, youll have to modify your vehicle. </td></tr><tr><td> </td><td valign="top"> </td><td colspan="3" valign="top">Unbolt or cut out the factory stereo's rear support bracket to make room for your new receiver. </td></tr><tr><td> </td><td valign="top"> </td><td colspan="3" valign="top">A receiver mounting kit is needed to install an aftermarket receiver.</td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table>
Hm. What's this about unbolting or cutting out the factory rear support bracket?

Also, I noticed that they have listed on their site, 2 different in dash brackets. The Scosche one(which the reviews say it is loose and rattles): http://www.crutchfield.com/S-TgbUkP...?search=mazda+indash+receiver+kit&i=142MA1537

And this one: which looks awfully similar to the one I got when I did an install on my Dad's Escape:

Does anyone know which one Crutchfield sends you when you buy the HU?

Thx

When I ordered from them last year they sent me the Scosche dash kit. They also said I needed to remove the rear support bracket to mount my Alpine HU and they were wrong.
