Hey gang,
I had dinner with an old friend over the weekend and it was the first time we'd seen each other in almost 15 years. He just got a divorce and has joint custody of his three sons, but he drives a Porsche Boxster! He has been looking at used Mercedes GL450s and Audi Q7s and said that he was only interested in a German SUV. But after riding in my 2012 CX-9 GT for almost two hours and driving it for another 30 minutes, he asked if I would mind looking for a 2011/2012 CX-9 GT in Brilliant Black (with either interior) for him to consider. He definitely wants the Moonroof/Bose/Sat/Pwr Liftgate Package, which I have, and he would prefer Navigation (which I deliberately skipped on mine) but it isn't a deal breaker.
This is the second one that I've "turned", by the way! In late Dec 2012, the lease on my cousin's 2008 Lexus GX470 was about to expire and she was planning to lease another Lexus GX or an Acura MDX. A few weeks prior to turning in her 2009, her mom passed away and she and her hubby and three kids had to make an emergency trip back here to Georgia (from Los Angeles) and without a reservation, they ended up with a Dodge Avenger rental car. Under the best circumstances, my descriptive powers aren't capable of explaining what a horrible vehicle the Avenger is. But for two adults, twin 12yr old boy and girl and a 15yr boy and their luggage, an ox-cart from a third world country would probably have been more comfortable! =)
I still had my 2006 Mazda3 at the time, so I insisted that they use my CX-9 (which wasn't even one month old yet) while they were in town. They were here for six days and flew home two days after Christmas and I got a call on New Year's Eve to wish me a Happy New Year...and to tell me that she was calling from her new 2013 CX-9 GT! Instead of leasing, they actually bought it and the loan payments were less than the lease payments were on that Lexus. She has over 20k miles on it and is still crazy about it! =)
Back on topic, I've found five possible 2011/2012 CX-9 GTs for my friend to check out. Two of them have the Rear Seat Entertainment Package which includes the 9" DVD display, 11-spkr Bose audio and SIRIUS sat radio. The spec sheets also note that it isn't available with the Moonroof/Bose Package which is logical since both include the Bose audio system. But there is no mention of the Rear Seat Entertainment Package including the Moonroof. I have always assumed that the Moonroof was incompatible with the roof-mounted DVD-system due to limited space. But one of the two CX9s that I have located with the Rear DVD player clearly has a Moonroof also (both can be seen in the same photo). The other one I found with the DVD system only has two photos and neither show the roof so I can't tell if it has a Moonroof or not...
Is the Moonroof included with the Rear DVD Package on 2011/2012 models? Or was the Moonroof an aftermarket installation on the model that I saw?
Thanks in advance! (huh)
