Question about removing deflector thing above grill

m just wondering if that black deflector thing or whatever it is can be removed by itself from the grill. cuz i would like to get it paint along with my lip if it is possible. i've seen a lot of p5s with that done so i m seeing if that strip can be taken off without much effort or do i have to take apart the whole grill?

umm if I remember right, it all came out as one piece. but that was a while ago and I didn't really take a good look at it so I could be wrong

if you take it to a paint shop, you can get them to mask it off with ease. plenty of people have done that... average cost is $40 iirc.
