After i bought my car and i went to the finace dept. they showed me all this paper work about extending my warranty, seat care, wheel and tire warranty and all kinds of other crap. I felt like they were very very pushy with all of it, and kinda of saying you cant leave this room till you sign type thing... :( so for some crazy arse reason i signed the papers and made my monthly payment go up like 20 bucks because of it.

Now after i got the papers in the mail and got a chance to really read it all. i know that i dont want any of it because it doesnt really cover crap. I asked my salesman if i could take the extra warranty stuff off and he said no. Is this true? ive had the car about 1 month.

Yep. Once you sign those papers.

Sorry bro...you got to be more assertive.

Well... I once suggested to a girl-friend (female friend, not actual girlfriend) to go into the dealership on a day she didn't have to go to work.

And just not sign anything, and let them push her into it all they wanted. She didn't have to worry about them not letting her go, because she didn't have to be anywhere anyway.

They eventually got so tired of trying to convince her, and having her just sit there waiting to sign, that they gave her the car with the options she wanted, no extra s***.

Of course, don't go in first thing in the morning... go in around 3 or so. They have to close the office and go home at some point.

So if they say "you can't leave this room until you sign"... take a book or a magazine with you... it's not like they are going to keep you there overnight (I think that would be kidnapping... then you could sue them). :D

i had a really nice dealer in stockton.. he was cool.. but when they brought the closer in to finnish the deal i wanted to walk out and scream at the top of my lungs.. i was like.. i dont want any of your add ons.. i just want the car.. well we have a real nice.. blah blah blah.. like i was speaking foriegn to him or someshit.. rediculous. -=(

my dealership started to pressure me into buying all sorts of extra warranty and crap and i just got up and started to walk out. this was about a hour and a half after they closed (they stayed late to close the deal). when i got up and they asked me what i was doing i said i came to buy a car and not all the bulls*** they were trying to sell me and that i would find a dealership that didnt have the high pressure sales tactics. Once they though they would lose the sale they quickly changed their tone and we were done with the paperwork 10 minutes later and i had a brand new car.

You will soon get the salesman evaluation form Mazda, give them all Zeros and explain what happened also you can call the local BBB and/or write them a letter about it.

I got my P5 from an auto broker.

I told him what make/model/color I wanted and he called me the next day with my car. I recommend Any Auto Brokers of Monterey to anyone who'll listen. So far my friends and family have purchased 6 cars from there.

Read the warranty agreement, 99% of extended warranties can be refunded if not used. I had one on my 99 Dakota R/T because I bought it used, but when I tried to use it, they came up with excuses and bs for why it wasn't covered. So I refunded it. They pro rated it because I had had it 6 months, but I got cash back.

I went to a dealer who tried to pull the same crap on a girl friend I dated and I was there for support. I was quick to point it out, and the fart acted like he didn't know it was there (yeah right)! I immediately corrected it and pointed other things out. I shocked the hell out of her with quick come backs to why her trade wasn't worth the amount and why she should pay what they were asking. In the end, she got a killer deal and walked away with her payments $30 less a month than she could afford. (At one point she was mad because it was in her price range, but I kept at it). :D I know they hated me when we walked away, but still, I know they had to have made money in the deal. They always do.

Hi, I just bought a Mazda3 last Thursday and the same thing I felt as if I was not leaving the room w/o agreeing to the " extended warrenty......hmm I am curious to find out if I can cancel that part of the contract. If I find anything out I will let you know.

Does the dealership make profit, each time they sucker someone into it...like myself....you know I just am curious..lol
Thanks,

I believe you can cancel the warranty and all the extras that you want.

I assume that the finance person had you sign the paper, not the salesman himself?

Nissan dealers here try to sell you 1000$ rust proofing. They claim it's warranty for life. Thenn they try selling 900$ fiber guard.

Kristi -

Dealerships make profit whenever they sell a car for more than they bought it, which is ALWAYS.

They do bank on you never having to use a warranty, but they sell you piece of mind with it. When you don't use the warranty, you essentially gave the dealer that extra money. When you do, the dealer has to eat the cost of the repairs that are covered. (Kind of like car insurance - If everyone had a claim, they wouldn't make so much money)

Sometimes it is good to buy one, sometimes it is bad. New cars come with factory warranties of course. Used cars usually don't have much of a factory warranty left.

If you mod your car at all, don't get the warranty.

I bought my MSP new enough that the dealership I bought from (or rather their finance department) tried to sell me a bunch of that warranty/coverage crap too.

we got an extended warrenty on my Mom's Accord. The only reason we did it was because they ended up giving us a lower rate if we did. Better than the bank's rate. So we got it. We did end up using it, and with the lower rate, it was even in the end :)
