question about my boost gauge

not sure which forum this would go in but anyone that has FI has gauges(I hope). I am installing my autometer boost gauge, and took it out about ten minutes ago. I got readings of 5 1/2 in 2nd gear and 6 1/4 in 3rd. I'll go ahead and assume thats ballpark for my speed, right? I think I've heard of readings as low as low fives in third. Second, the vac tube entering the gauge feels way too loose. When I turned the car on I could hear a little air seeping through the rear of the gauge, and I held it in to get my final readings. Am I missing something that keeps the vac line secure in the fittings. Last of all(super noob question, just wanted to be sure) Do I only get readings at full throttle, and how fast should the needle respond on a speed. Sorry for so many questions. Thanks all:)

all i know is you will only get readings once your turbo spools. you will not get readings crusing around the parking lot because your turbo isnt "on".

My boost gauge (when I had stock boost) read 20 vacuum idle, and peaked at 7 psi boost. I'm using the included nylon hose (for now) with teflon tape. I haven't had any problems so far.

boost can spike with many variables. including engine load. in higher gears (ie 2nd and 3rd), load on the engine is increased. and boost may spike. try it in 5th gear. wouldn't be suprised it you get 7 or more.
