Question about Honda 2.0 vs Mazda 2.0

So does the FE3 share the same bolt pattern as the FS? Could you bolt one to a stock protege tranny?

Also, since I'm lazy and at work, does a K series spin the wrong way like most honda motors?

With a shorter stroke, the max piston speed and therefore the centrifugal force on the rods, etc. is much less.

There's no such thing as centrifigul force. It's a made up term.

Anyone ever considered how hard it would be to swap an FE3 into the protege? If it came in the j-spec 626, might it have the same motor mounts and whatnot as the fs?

i don't think the FE-3 was in the most recent 626 that used the same FS-DE engine. All pictures I've seen are the more square (2nd gen?) versions. There was also an AWD option for the FE-3 powered 626. (2thumbs)

FE-3 was a J-spec engine 88-92 MX-6/626....If you can find one then look for an H series tranny..MUCH tougher than the g-series...then just figure out a way to get the damn assembly in your car

the Kia Sportage used a detuned version of the FE-3. I've looked into doing the swap. Just need money and learn how to do some custom fabrication.

beat me to it by 15 days or so Josh (pertaining to the F20)...but what the hell is the 101mm stroke one? One of the only gasoline 4 cylinders I know of with that much stroke is the SpecV's 2.5L...whatever the code is for it though; I forget...

There engine's are a Mustang 5.0(101mm bore, 76mm stroke and 129mm rods), and the Integra Type R(81mm bore, 87mm stroke and 138mm rods). I don't need to tell everyone which engine revs higher and faster...

oh...I read your first post wrong, I thought you said 101mm of stroke...

nevermind...Other than the latest Z06, I hate cars with pushrods...
