question about crossover

hi, im buying Infinity REF6800CS for my mazda3s , and i was wondering do i HAVE to use the little crossover box that comes with it? if not will it hurt anything? i know that the box puts all high freq. in the treb speakers and everything else in the mid speakers, but isnt the stock HU already set up to do this? also, are the mids in the 6800cs better than my stock (bass reflex etc)? thanks.

Yes you should use the crossover. The stock radio does not seperate the signal for the tweeter and the midrange in the door. There is a little cap on the stock tweeter that serves as it's highpass filter while the mids play a fullrange signal.

do you know if these speakers will be better than stock(if im not using an amp)? i actaully am fine with the sound and volume level that they are now, i just want some that wouldnt crack at the highest volume, would new speakers prevent that?
