Quest to find cheaper BA RC820 components

why? you people never explain why? i already got 6.5s for the rear, so tell me tell me tell me!!! :D

Round speakers sound better off-axis (with out the speaker pointing straight at you) than oval speakers IMHO

but as to which one is actually bigger? thats a tough one because I don't know the pitch of the cone angle... or are you simply asking which shape is bigger a 5x7 oval or a 6.5 circle?

yes to the second question...

so youre saying that it would sound better with 6.5 components int he front coupled with the 6.5s i already have in the rear?

then the 6.5" round is bigger. and I personally do think that the round speaker will sound better. as to with the read 6.5s it shouldn't even matter. I persoanlly preffer a front soundstage, and I fade my rears prety low when I ride by myself, and turn up the rears if people in the back ask for it. but they usually dont.

yeah a 6x8 is larger, but purely by math a 6.5" circle is larger surface area than a 5x7 oval (depending that the shape of the oval be like a speaker and not a rounded off rectangle. but deffinately the 6.5's will sound better

well s*** that makes finishing my stereo (after i get my lip and grille painted) a hella lot easier.

The problem is we are talking rough sizes. A JL 6.5 is definitly larger then a BA 6.5, the cone is larger. same thing goes for 5x7's. Different brands have different cone sizes.

I actualy put 6.5" Boston Pros into a ford explorer yestureday. The Fods factory speakers cones were the same width as the bostons but the fords were obviously longer. This is why a BA 6.5" speaker can always fit in a ford 5x7 opening, BAs are closer to 6" then 6.5"s.

this is what I posted before answering the simple math question he then asked for... certainly not all speakers that claim to be 6.5" are the same size. I fully agree.

but everyone agrees that the 6.5s will sound better right?

Again you are back to the basics of chossing speakers. GO to a store and listen to them. Decide for yourself. All i can tell you is that they sound different.

well if i had any decent stores around here in the boonies it would be a lot easier.

I really am suprised Lawton doesn't have a boston dealer... they have 90,000 peolpe there.... I guess its time for a road trip huh?

exactly. everything around here is geared for the ghetto. i could go out and buy pre-made "bass kits" with my 20" chrome wheels. i called around some of the stereo shops in lawton and they never heard of boston acoustics.
