Push Button Start?

Has anybody completed the install yet? Would it work with a simple push button from radio shack? Where did you mount your button? I want to put one i but am not sure what wires to splice into or what kind of button I could use. I dont really want to spend $30 on a button.

I installed one, along with a kill switch and two toggle swithces. The result is keyless starting! See the attachment.

See - now that, I suppose, is useful.

However, 99% of everyone I see wanting this thing, just want a stupid push-button. They still have to put in the key and turn it, so I can't see the point in adding anoher step to starting the car.

Yours is pretty cool, though.

if you use a switch along with a few relays, you dont need a key at all. use the switch and relays to power the accessory, ignition, and heater/ac wires.. and to start it, flip the awitch on, and push the button to start. to turn the car off, flip the switch off. I'd suggest using 3 switches for more control..

As for the first question, I would seriously not recommend using just a plain switch from radio shack, unless you want to have a fire hazard in your car. Theres a TXT file somewhere on this board that has the wire colors you need to splice into. If i remember correctly the Ignition wire is black with a blue stripe, and the A/C wire is blue (i might have those backwards). The color for the starter wire is in that TXT file, I'm at work now and I cant find it.

elemental, the relays and switches is exactly what I did.

As for what switch to use, you can use whatever you want as long as you're using a relay. However, if you're just going to use a switch, you'll need a pretty heavy-duty one. Those types of switches aren't usually very "pretty", so I'd suggest going with a relay.
