Just got a 2010 3 HB GT, and only have one key (pushbutton start).

Is it possible to start the car, get out, lock the door on the outside with the button on the (external) door and let it warm up in the mornings? My car only came with one key and I need to let it warm up in the mornings to get the snow\frost off..

if not whats my cheapest alternative?

Thanks,

Why not get a "Metal Key" made.

You should have at least one door with a door lock.

Get in the car.
Start it.
Manually Lock the FOB in the car with it running by using the metal key.

may have answered my own question by googling it on another side I dare not mention

"sorry for bringing up this dead ass thread but i figured out a way to do this. im sure by now you guys have already but ill post it here anyways. once the car is on, step out the car, close the door, pull the key from the fob and turn the doorlock to the left and it locks all the doors. to open the doors use the key again. the fob doesnt work to open the doors, only the key. thats it."

The FOB is disabled when the engine is on.

They dont want people opening the trunk or trying to FOB lock the doors with the car running.

The only way to have the car running and lock the doors is with a physical key.

Pushing the button lock will pop down and pop up the locks. They dont want you locking the keys in the car (by accident)

what you say is true....

followed the instructions and warmed up the car today with the key\fob safely in the house ;-) I should get another key made just as a backup though.
