Hi Guys,

I currently drive a 2000 Audi S4 if you hit the shift key its an S$ and thats more fitting. Averages 17.5 highway/city and every time it goes in the shop its $1000 or more. Bye bye twin-turbo!

Im going to go with the Speed3 for performance/reliability. This seems to be the best practical performance vehicle made.

Ive read that some people are getting their cars under MSRP. I live in San Diego and was wondering if this is true lately. Anybody buy from a San Diego dealer in the last month or two. I want to walk in and say this is what my friend paid heres his name, wheres my car ☺

I look forward to being an active member of this forum (seems to be the best) and hopefully see some of you zoom zoomin on the road!

hi and welcome. it's interesting you're getting out of an s4. about 4 months ago, i was looking at an 05.5 yellow s4. v8, no turbos.

i live in lala land and paid msrp for my car, but that was over a year ago. i know for a fact that you can get the car under msrp. what i recommend is going to mazdausa.com and request a quote from as many dealers in your area as possible.

use the quotes against the other dealers and get the best price.

are you going to be trading the s4?
i used to sell cars, i love the car business...i would love to help

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I tried trading the car in. It's a 2000, so it's the V6. Dealer offered my $7,500, which was way too low. I bought the car in 2005 for $18K, I think I have a buyer for $11.5K, but we'll see. I'm getting out because it costs a lot of money to keep an S4 happy and look at the values, they are plummeting! You want to help? Sure...get me more than $11.500 and keep the difference :)

I plan on trading in my 2000 A4 for a MS3 next weekend! I've been driving this car for 8 years now, so I'm really excited about getting something new.

selling the car private party is obviously going to be more beneficial to the seller. that's what i would recommend. good luck with that. and good luck with your mazda experience

Now that is a community! Where were you when I needed you Phillyb? LOL just kidding. It is always cool to see fellow entusiast helping each other. To the OP, have you tried posting on Vortex? A car such as yours would sell quite easily in that environment I would assume.

I got a Sport for $21,500 including all weather mats, wheel locks, and the Mazda iPod adapter.

They gave me something like $8500 on my Protege5 trade in. This is in southern Louisiana where the tax rate is 9% so it turned out to be an awesome deal!

hahahaha...LOL

to the OP - take this guys suggestion and put that s4 on the market everywhere. try craigslist...try carmax although they probably won't give you that much. they're just really easy to deal with.

s***...you could even put the car on ebay

Thanks guys. Yeah, I checked a few of those offer sites like Carmax. They lowball about 3-4K under bluebook. The car in on CL, and I may have a potential buyer. Keeping my fingers crossed. I may have an s3 by Sunday!

s3? or ms3?
hahahaha...coming from the audi world, be careful...someone might actually think you will import this...

That b**** is hot, but she's a gold digger. Yeah, gotta get with the new lingo, better get the car first though.

I asked for quotes from all 3 San Diego Dealerships. Only John Hine gave me a price (see above). The one in National City seems a little shady, he said "work your deal there and I'll beat it by at least $200", but would never give me a price.

I'd rather pay an extra $200 and give the deal to someone who was up front with me. Right?

Escondido hasn't gotten back to me with a quote either, so it looks like John Hine is the way to go.

Anybody say different?

Lie through your teeth about an insane offer you got and see if he'll beat that by $200. (spin)

I got my 2008 Black Mica GT for 25k otd, and that was after TTL... however you'll be able to get a better deal if you work it right. lol I even got mine from John Hine...that's what the plates said, i took the thing off before driving off the lot..lol

I had a great experience buying from there. The salesman who sold it to me, moved onto a son owned business in Texas, so he's no longer there, or I'd refer you to him. But good luck with your purchase! I'll be home in about 2 months, so by that time you should have your Speed 3! =) If you need help installing goodies on your ride, let me know, I installed all my go fast parts minus the spring/dampers...those are under warranty from dealer..hehe

I picked up my 08.5 MGM GT from the Mile of Cars for $25,500 OTD. That was some time in April. I looked for quotes all the way to LA. The one in Mission Valley was the only one that kinda gave me a good quote. I then went to the one in National City and asked if they can you match it and they said yes. I went there before to look so they remembered me. Also, on the Mazda website, you can see actual inventories of cars all across the country. I saw that the dealership just got it in. I was the first and only person to test drive the car. It just got off the truck and wasn't even fully processed in. I was happy.

Call around the dealerships every few days. At the time I was looking for my car, there was a used black 08.5 GT going for $21xxx OTD in Escondido. The salesman said the guy bought the car for his wife who didn't want it because it was a stick. The car had less than 1000 miles. I would of got that one, but I was lazy and didn't want to drive up during the afternoon traffic. It was sold that night.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the dealership in National City would have given me a year of free service. I had to move up to norcal, so I didn't get to use it, but I'd guess the amount would be something like $500.

Thanks guys very much. This is the type of info that can make the diff from a good and great deal.

As soon as i get 11,500 for the S4, I'm gonna walk in and offer 24,500 for a gt. if they say no, I'll drive a few more miles.

I'll hit you up when you get back, Iraq?
