Pulstar Spark for MS3

Apparently these are drop in spark plug replacements and the ultimate spark plug if you will,with considerable gains all around.Has anyone used them yet.

Pulse plugs incorporate a pulse circuit, which stores incoming electrical energy from the ignition system and releases the stored energy in a powerful pulse of power. Instead of 50 watts of peak power typical of all spark plugs, pulse plugs deliver up to 10 times more peak power. It takes electrical power to light fuel. The more power (watts) the better. yes this thread is a month old, however, i've been researching these a bit for work and it had no responses so i feel compelled to add some info. it seems several dyno comparisons have been done by valid sources saying these actually do find measureable power increases.

There are several people whop have tried these on the MS6's and they do not last. Plustar even advised them to lower the plug gap and the plugs still fail and cause misfires..

they have put them on diff cars evo etc in performance mags to see if there is a difference, i think think the evo gained 8hp. all the cars tested gained power and torque

I live in Albuquerque where Enerpulse is located. They used my car to test them and dyno'd the car before and after. I gained 1% hp, torque, mileage, and acceleration (meaning my acceleration time was reduced by 1%). Not much but a gain is a gain.
Word of advice, gap them to 0.044-0.040 and reset the ECU before restarting the motor. I had a misfire issue until I reset the ECU. I don't have the Dyno sheets with me (I'm traveling for work atm) but can post them if you're interested when I get home.

hmm, i'm curious what they would do on a boosted DISI setup like the ms3.

BTW, did you interface with Tom Braun at all?

To me with price and maybe not lasting as long as oem, I don't think they are worth a few horsepower. If we are talking 10 through the entire range though, yeah, order me a set!!

the manufacturer claims service intervals in the 50k range....

people spend how much on iridium plugs just to get the power to stock levels, and people spend 250 dollars on blow off valves, so there is a spot somewhere for a product like this...

i still would like to see what these do on an ms3...i might try to get something like that done.

Pulstar plugs are unreliable

My advice is don't bother. The Speed 3 comes with the Ford Platinum spark plugs which are premium plugs. Use those or go with the NGK or other reputable brand. I think the NGK premium plugs have been shown to produce slight increases in hp and torque.

The Pulstars come with a warning notice that says that if you drop the Pulstar you will break it. In other words, it is VERY delicate and fragile. IMHO, it has no place being in an engine compartment then. I ordered a set two months ago and had them properly gapped and installed. Cyl 1 had a misfire right off the bat as it was the Pulstar was defective. They sent me a free replacement a few days later. Worked fine for a few weeks and then cyl 4 started misfiring. I had the original plugs put back in at that point. The Mazda tech who reinstalled the OEM plugs told me that one of their techs broke a Pulstar while trying to install it and he said that the porcelain shell is very fragile and think because they have electronics inside the Pulstar.

Don't waste your money like I did. Stay away from Pulstar!!

No the MS3 comes with these.Iridium NGK and they are about the best there is end of story.
