I've been feeling a vibration since a heavy snowstorm two weeks ago, I lifted the CX-9 today fully expecting to see failed rear shaft bearings but they turned out to be perfectly fine: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123787759-Is-anybody-experiencing-vibration-problems-09-CX-9&p=6434243#post6434243

then I noticed a HUGE chunk of ice right under the driver's seat sticking out of the that plastic undercarriage plastic catch panel; ICE was fully packed in the entire panel cavity (sidenote: during hot summer months: I see dripping condensation water from this plastic drip pan, but I don't know the real purpose of that catch drip pan but all I know is that during snow storms it's the worst location to be right behind the front driver wheel to catch all ice and snow coming from the wheel)

Also ICE went up any vertical cavity up towards the driver's seat near the MAHLE module that you see in the pictures, the ice in the cavities was the damn thing driving me nuts the last two weeks, as soon as I removed the huge ice blocks, the vibration went away. just letting anyone know in case it happens to you..... just check that panel right under the driver's seat for ice if you just went thru a snow storm, you don't need to lift the CX-9. the panel is easily accessible from the driver side door on level ground.

Also, besides snow: I can also easily see that mud or sand can pile up in that cavity also giving off vibrations at speeds above 40mph...... so might be worth it to check it out if you're feeling vibrations coming from under the driver's seat.

anyone know what's the function of this MAHLE module right above the plastic panel ??

8 lbs worth of ice removed !! vibration gone !!!
