Yeah, might not be something really special, except I happen to live around the Philadelphia Area (scratch)

I saw the plate on the parking lot and said "oh well, not a local" until the "La Isla Del Encanto" legend became readable and I was like, WTF?

The family was just parking so I asked "Que tal esta la carretera viniendo de Puerto Rico??", they just looked at me weird, but then they laughed :D

Oh well, not a daily sighting ;)

...so did they drive the car there from Puerto Rico?

LOL, it was an amphibious Ford Freestar or something minivan ;)

No, I was not really in position to question them, but my guess:

From hometown in PR > drive to San Juan (pick a harbor) > Ship/Ferry from San Juan to New York (pick a harbor) > arrive into harbor > Drive to Philly

In another thread we agreed that bringing the car from PR may be cheaper than a car rental if we add all costs for flight tickets for the whole family, car rental itself, car insurance, period of stay, etc.

Anyway, something like that :)

Gotcha. Makes snese to me. Too bad you didn't get to question them.

just wanted to show my boricua pride ;)

Probably a free government subsidy, you may be running low in Philly.

We have plenty here

Hello.
Most States allow 30 days for cars shipped from overseas (PR) before new title and local license plates are processed.
Probably owner decided to display PR plates instead of temporary ones.
I was in the military and shipped my Tacoma and displayed PR "Radio Aficionado" plates until got permanent ones.
